Coach John Longmire - Part IV has resigned

Ok. I get it. A human being can’t ask that question. Only a human being who is a swan’s supporter can.

Right. I get the hint. That logic indicates I should move on. Thanks.
This is a post that should be for Swans fans only due to the nature of the subject. You have made your points, albeit to the annoyance of everyone here, so, as you have been asked several times, please move on and do not post again.

I suspect the decision was made several weeks back - at least in principle, given the noted absence of Horse at things like draft night etc, but they had chosen to hold it back for whatever reason.
I agree.
He wasn't at the draft in the room.
He wasn't the one to surprise visit the newly drafted players' homes when they were drafted on the night, as he has in the past.
This was pre-planned IMO.

Can just about ink us in for the flag next year, then, considering Longmire’s coaching was holding us back?
Sorry but that's a silly comment.
For the most part it was never about the actual losses, it was the manner of the losses. There was no coming back for Longmire after this last one.

Kinda have an odd feeling about this. I was with Horse for most of his tenure. If you could split his time with us into quarters, I supported (if not always agreed with) him for three quarters of it. Then he lost me in the final quarter. So there's a weird feeling of mourning the departure of a coach who I think did an enormous amount of good, whilst also believing we will be better off for it.

He is our greatest ever coach who contributed to one of our greatest ever periods of success as a club. I hope they're the thoughts he rides off into the sunset with.

Legend of the club. Won the ultimate glory in 2012, and had us competing for flags for a good long while. Has steered us through a rebuild and overseen a list that now seems ready to challenge for premierships. Unfortunately, I think that even his most ardent supporters would now have to have accepted that Longmire probably wasn't going to be the guy to lead us to another flag.

Always classy in front of the camera, appears valued by players and staff and to genuinely be a decent bloke. Best of luck in retirement, in the grand scheme of things I'd imagine he will always be remembered with fondness by the Swans faithful.

A great coach and a great man has unfortunately left the Swans.
An awful lot of pressure on Cox (assumption he is new coach) because most people seem to think that making and winning a GF is automatic without Horse.

I don't as I think our tall defenders are too weak to be winning a flag, same with our tall forwards. We rely too much on our midfield.

Can you tell me what Brisbane's list deficiencies are. I can't see them not winning 2025.
No list is ever perfect. They have a superb list, and will be exceptionally hard to beat - they are strong favourites for 2025 and for good reason. But to suggest any list can't be improved or has no deficiencies is fanciful for mine.

For instance - for all the hate he has got, a player the quality of Daniher is a big loss to replace. They've got no shortage of good players looking for an opportunity, sure. But he had a nice mix of skills, and performed in latter years fairly consistently at a pretty high level. We sure could have used a forward/ruck (no insult to Mclean meant here) of that quality on Grand Final day.

It's not just the midfield. How is Rampe's record in GFs?!

Longmire has a right to feel terribly let down by senior players over the journey.
This might just be a me thing and that's OK but I can forgive lock down defenders and the main forwards in a game where the midfield is being completely destroyed. A side of 6 AA defenders will lose when the supply to the opposition forwards is uncontested, clean and repeated. A side of 6 AA forwards won't score when the ball never hits their 50 and when it does it isn't to advantage or even contested.

Now you could argue the forwards didn't get up and compete and that the defenders lacked composure and polish exiting D50 which is also partially true (looking at you Blakey) but if you aren't winning the supply battle a lot has to go right to make up for it
