A great coach and a great man has unfortunately left the Swans.
An awful lot of pressure on Cox (assumption he is new coach) because most people seem to think that making and winning a GF is automatic without Horse.

Dean Cox will take over .
What a legend of the club , no matter what you think .
At least he has been big enough to see when it was over .
Now let's respect him
Thank you to Horse.
I absolutely love the guy. He has got the best out of himself & the club. Unfortunately he wasn't inspiring the players enough to go that next step & he has recognised that.

Nice if he can stay in some capacity if he's had enough of coaching.

Due diligence requires interviewing ALL potential candidates. If you disagree then you have no idea.

You pick the best one that's available go on tell us who is better and don't say keep Horse when it was clearly time. Done an amazing job but like Harwick for you guys there's an end date mate. Cox is highly sought after, just like Adam Kingsley was. People were saying the same thing when Roos haded it over to Horse.

Oh also - I mean how good are we.

Premiership winning coach. Perennial finalists.

Only 53 pages and he is gone.

Port are on their 13th thread and its 95 pages and they still have Hinkley.

Amateurs. We get results up here.

You finished clear on top of the ladder. Your problem wasn’t the game plan. Your problem is that you timed your run poorly. Hardwick learnt that in 2018. He said never again will we sprint at the start of a marathon. He then went on to go back to back.
The next part of this is that Cox has also been part of your failures. You are not giving the club the best chance of having the best coach available in the land without an extensive process in finding this person.
Guess what ........................ f

I don't.
I really think the players' heads are fried now with regards to how softly they caved in & Horse & the club know this.
The best chance we have is for the players to have a change of voice in the coaches box.
I fear we will drop in performance for a few years.
We've seen our best era.

The difference is that Adam Kingsley was a fresh voice bringing ideas from Richmond. His game plan is very Hardwick like with adjustments for his personnel.
Cox has been at Sydney for years. He has learnt most of his coaching from Longmire. He isn’t a fresh voice. He maybe the best but how do you know unless you talk to others and hear their philosophies and approaches to the game?

Who is to say they didn't undertake such a process behind closed doors however? I suspect it'll come out the decision was made several weeks ago.

Not every club feels the need to do every single step of every single process in public, as some clubs do.

This will go one of two ways and there's no in between this year. The new voice will be exactly what is needed and we win this year, it could release the shackles rather than being set in a Horse gameplan. Alternatively it could blow up and we could miss the 8, honestly it's a roulette wheel gamble for this year but I love the punt!

There’s zero chance they held extensive searches and interviews without something getting out. There are more media people in football than players!

It was definitely publicly announced when the first succession plan with Roos and Longmire happened. Pretty sure Roos and Goodwin was publicly announced as well. It's not exactly a crazy thing to do.

I more meant why would we come out after Cox turned down WCE and confirm it's because he's taking over? Feels strange to be dictated in announcing your plans by another club.

Thanks Horse. You were superb in running the football side. Your composed manner was just want was required and stepping down now and taking the responsibility is another example. Let's hope the playing group do likewise. All the best Dean Cox. GO SWANS.

As some know i spend a little bit of time in his own home town Corowa , so get to know people and one of his closest told me this morning that there are NO health problems
So the question was asked!!!!

It wasn’t then unreasonable for someone else to ask the same question!

Thank you.

My counterpoint to that is the talent on the list hasn't changed.

We have list weaknesses - sure. But every club does. In total, it is still a quality list, with a lot of players still well and truly on the 'uptick' in terms of careers, not on the pathway to retirement. Cox will have a lot to work with - if he is any good as a coach (and he is clearly highly regarded in AFL circles) he is starting from a very high base point. As indeed Longmire did.

2025 is likely to be rocky with the change - as it would have been had Longmire stayed. But I don't think, in any shape or form, we can claim an 'era' is over, or we are headed down the drain.

The list is in as good a shape as the list horse inherited in 2010 - arguably potentially better. Lets see what Big Cox can do with it.

He will bring his own ideas, every new coach does, and we have done the research if you think we've made the move on a Hail Mary think again. Look deeper in our gameplan many on here me included were saying unless we found a plan B we were never winning last year regardless where we came in the minor premiership. It was time to move one. A fresh set of eyes.
