I Had No Idea That Was The Same Actor

Yeah he was rocking that hair in the most recent Billions ep.

He is one of those local actors who arguably got their first notable gig (early glimpse) on The Pacific. Seemed a third of that big cast was locals, and despite some veterans in there a lot of them (nowadays names) were practically unknown then.

I remember watching the forgotten 1957 musical 'April Love' one wet Saturday a few years ago. This movie featured Pat Boone (a pop singer in the 1950s and 1960s) in the lead role, playing a ne'er-do-well young man who falls in with the wrong crowd, gets into trouble with the law and sent to his aunt and uncle's ranch, where he changes his ways and falls in love with a girl named Liz, the pretty tomboy daughter from the neighboring farm.

Liz was an absolute stunner, but I had no idea that I was looking at a young Shirley Jones, who in the early 1970s would become the mother from the sitcom 'The Partridge Family'. Interestingly, David Cassidy from this show was Shirley Jones's real-life stepson, and only Cassidy and Jones did their own singing, the other family members were dubbed.

Shirley Jones and Pat Boone are both still alive close to age 90 at the time of posting, but the actors who played the beta couple from April Love both died in the 2000s, while two of the actors who played the Partridge kids have also passed away; David Cassidy who died in 2017 and Suzanne Crough who played youngest daughter Tracy died in 2015.

I was watching the Aussie ABC series 'Bay of Fires'. Thought I'd look up who was playing one of the lead characters Jeremiah, as he didn't look familiar at all. The answer was Toby Leonard Moore. "Never heard of him", I said. So I looked up what else he'd been in and I had literally been watching him as a major character in American series 'The Blacklist' a month or so ago... & he's also in 'Billions'. Amazing what a beard & longer hair can do!

Good pick up, I didn't make the connection and watch all three of those shows. :thumbsu:

Wasn't he also Kingpins consigliere in Daredevil?

With Halloween this month, lots of movies of this genre are rolled out in October, and one that frequently screened around Halloween is the 1993 horror comedy 'Hocus Pocus'. One thing I never realized until I happened to watch it last year is that the little sister is played by a young Thora Birch, then 10-11 years old.

I had no idea that John Michael Higgins was Elaine's bald boyfriend Kurt in an episode of Seinfeld. I've probably seen the episode ten times without recognizing him.

If you think that bloke's unrecognizable from his Seinfeld self, try this one;

Sherman Howard, the bloke who got operated on in the 'Junior Mint' episode

also played probably the most famous zombie in moviedom, Bub from 1985's Day of the Dead

Jim Carrey as the hermit in The Bad Batch movie was very good and it's hard to know it's him behind his big grey beard in real life.

I had always thought that Jennie Garth played the teenage daughter Sally Applegate in the 1991 Science Fiction Comedy 'Meet the Applegates' but in fact this character was played by an actress named Camille Cooper, who had a number of film and TV roles in the late 1980s and early 1990s but none after 1995.

In the 1990 movie 'Kindergarten Cop' drug dealer/murderer Callan Crisp sets fire to the school to kidnap his young son Dominic from his former wife, a teacher at the school. When Detective John Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is searching the evacuated school, he hears a noise from a classroom and busts in gun drawn expecting to find Crisp hiding with the boy. Instead and to his great surprise and displeasure, Kimble finds a boy and girl from the sixth grade making out together, these kids having thought this was a fire drill and taking the opportunity to sneak off and enjoy themselves.

The girl in this scene was played by Tiffany Reaves and this was her only credited acting role. The equally unknown male actor playing the boy while having only limited credited acting roles in the 1980s and 1990s would find great success as a producer and director, his name Jason Reitman.

Ivan Reitman directed KC and liked to put his children in his movies which both Jason and Catherine were

I often look up actors when I'm watching old movies. It's interesting how many child actors quit and never go back, and yes, plenty of kids do only one or two films. I assume they're often the children of people involved

Cole Hauser- just watched Good Will Hunting. Only recently realising one of Will's friends is the same bloke from Yellowstone. Just baffling, it looks like two completely different men.
Nah he looks like the same guy who just packed on a bit of weight.

He was also in School Ties with Damon & Affleck, Pitch Black and a number of other movies in the early 2000s.

I was watching "Hot Fuzz" the other night on one of the commercial stations. I saw it at the cinema when it came out, but at the time I don't think I was familiar with a lot of the cast cameos who have become some of my favourites since like Bill Nighy, Bill Bailey, Steve Coogan etc. I was motivated to see it at the time because I knew it had some of the actors from the UK 90s comedy sketch series "Big Train" like the lead actor Simon Pegg.

Actually had to look up who the main villain was (Timothy Dalton) as I could recognise his face but not to put a name to him - never having watched any of his Bond films.

When I was looking further at the list of actors online, there were a lot more people I had forgotten about. One I didn't even notice was Edward Woodward who played the head of the neighborhood watch even though I've recently watched bits of "Breaker Morant" as it screens regularly on SBS World movies. It just didn't connect.

In 'Scooby Doo', the janitor would often be unmasked as the villain at the end of episodes and would lament that 'I would have gotten away with it if not for you meddling kids and your dog.'

Thousands of miles away in Australia the scenic town of Summer Bay on the New South Wales Central Coast north of Sydney has attracted its share of villains over the years since 1988 despite its otherwise quiet and idyllic surrounds. The character taking up the baton of Home and Away's villain between March and June of 1991 was actually a janitor, a lazy bogan guy named Kenny who worked in this position at Summer Bay High School.

At first, Kenny's main problem seemed to be his slack, surly attitude and his poor work performance, often finding himself getting reprimanded by senior school staff after complaints by the female students that there was no toilet paper, soap or hand towels in the girls' toilets; the boys' toilets nor the gym changerooms for both sexes having been mopped in days; complaints from teachers about substandard or no cleaning of classrooms; neglected gardens and dropped food in the school's cafeteria left on the floor and attracting pests like cockroaches.

Devious Kenny, not that much older than the students, found an enterprising solution to this, bribing boys into doing the work for him before school. He also got to know Hayden, Michael Ross's eldest son and Blake, one of the foster kids, pretty well and upon hearing the boys were keen to buy a second-hand car, set them up with the deal of a lifetime to purchase a car that seemed too good to be true.

Of course, it was too good to be true and the car was in fact a dangerous rebirth, a death trap on wheels. As relations deteriorated it became clear that Kenny was connected to some pretty heavy people and he threatened Blake and Hayden with violence if they did not pay the rest of the money, things only getting worse when Blake's sister Karen and another foster kid Sophie vandalized Kenny's car in retaliation, Kenny thinking it was the two boys and going off his head. Finally though Kenny and his crooked mates' schemes are revealed and they are arrested, and Blake and Hayden learn a valuable lesson.

I had no idea who played Kenny - I presumed some obscure actor long since out of the industry and completely forgotten - so I was amazed to find out he was played by well-known Australian character actor, producer and director David Field in an early role in his career.
