I just don’t like seeing Jack McRae as a sub . I won’t begrudge him if he leaves . Far to talented and ahead of so many others . West same .
You can see why they tried HG in the mids for so many games . We looked Jurassic tonight . This was a proper stinker , even Bont had a bad game by his lofty standards .
I feel that Bevo should not be offered another contract . We need new structures and cultural identity otherwise 2025 will just like 2024 , 2023 and so on .

Harmes selection was a mistake, JOD, McNeil, Gallagher cracked under finals pressure. JUH, Bont, Weightman never showed up when it mattered. English is a liability.

No plan for Sicily, Newcombe, Amon or D’Ambrosio.

Still think this team is mentally fragile. If we refuse to review that like past finals we will never improve.

They planned for jones, they dragged him up the ground the entire night leaving JOD the deepest defender. They exploited every weakness through coaching.

Hawks attack with speed. They take the game on. Requires speed, hard work and good disposal. They simply ran harder for longer. It’s precisely why can’t have Daniel as a best 22 next year. I’m sorry but I’ve never been a fan of Mcniel. He may have a good game occasionally but just not consistently enough to warrant consistent selection. I’d play Garcia every time. Very poor game from Bont and JUH. If JUH had scored that set shot from 15 metres out then the game was back in play. After that we just got smashed. That was a deflating outcome. Don’t care who wins this year.

We aren’t winning another flag with VDM, Mcneil, Daniel, Harmes and Macrae all playing in the senior side.
I get the need for pace but mcneil and VDM aren’t senior quality small forwards.

So it seems that in order for us to win a final under Bevo we need to be underdogs, in the two seasons we've gone in with below average or poor form we've ended up making the grand final (2016, 2021) and in the seasons we're we've come into finals in decent or better form we've ended up losing (2015, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2024)

Disgusting performance. They killed us with their spread. Midfield were monstored in the second and dropped their heads way too easily. I remember saying at half time we needed the first. Otherwise, this team would get discouraged.


I'm so sick of this story. You would think Libba and Treloar are on the way out after next, so we have to approach next year as a 'Last Dance' scenario before we middle out.

This squad will only win a premiership with a new coach, who can get us that double chance.

It was always started by some smug Hawthorn supporter mouthing off and then a Dogs supporter would take the bait and it would end up in a nasty confrontation, then of course the Dogs supporter gets marched out and they leave the Hawks supporter there

Some fans seem to imagine it’s them kicking the goals or something.

I was criticised on here for suggesting JUH was probably close to being dropped mid season but games like tonight happen for him.

In the home and away season he can still sneak a goal or two and fly under the radar but with the pressure on he was awful and didn’t even look like it.

It’s good he came of age a bit during the year but next year he needs to turn up every week.

Same, half my family is Hawthorn and they’ve barely watched footy for 4-5 years until they got on a run this year.

Of course, they didn’t miss a game over their dynasty.

You could see the car stickers on and scarves over back seats about 4-5 weeks ago around Camberwell, Hawthorn etc.

Same vehicles were bare when they were 0-5.

They’re shockers.

Some people I worked with in their golden era were exactly the same.

Dogs were outplayed, but umps stole our momentum time and time again.

The O'Donnell deliberate was atrocious, clear skill error that happened multiple times.... How that was paid I don't know.

They said all week if we bring our best footy we can beat anyone. Unfortunately quite a few played their worst games of the year.
The hawks were fantastic but we helped them look good by basic skill errors, shocking decision making. We were totally outplayed by a faster team who ran harder but I felt we could have got back in it if we didn't gift them goals at the worst time or stuff up our own chances. Every dogs supporter knew jamarra would miss that goal including him!

It was a shocking night but for me it doesn’t invalidate the dramatic improvement after round 8. That won’t mean anything much if we don’t get back on with it from round one next season though.

I have no doubt they discussed how to deal with those players. When the ball use is terrible and players like JUH don’t even give a contest then a player like Sicily will have a field day.

Yep. I said in the GDT pre-match that this was our big challenge tonight, .

Failed again. Good hearts, plenty of talent ... but mentally fragile.

Don't understand some of the coaches thinking and methods tonight. Dale has been kicking out from behinds all year and would sometimes create good runs, but tonight we have Bramble taking most of them.

3rd quarter when the game is on the line I didn't see Bont in the midfield at all, but then he was back in there in the 4th when the game was over.

And then seeing Naughton as back up ruck just blew my mind. He didn't do bad, but why in an elimination final would you change what has worked for us and then make no tactical moves at all to stop Sicily or Newcombe.

Bevo has never liked rucks and never put any effort into tagging in any way and it keeps costing us year after year.
