If we have two top 6 picks, then it's fine if we go to the draft before Tassie comes in. It would be nice to get Reid but it's also fine to go to the draft.checks which team I follow.Nope, not going to be disappointed which ever way this plays out.
Harley is under contract for 2026. If Essendon really, really want Harley, they have to satisfy West Coast, otherwise West Coast keep ahold of Reid, and auction him off at the end of 2026.
Essendon might not get a second shot at Reid.
We've seen players under contract request a trade, only to be told no by their club. Then a year later, leave for a different club, when they were out of contract. You have first hand experience of that with Daniher.
And it's not like Essendon will have the PSD threat at the end of 2026 either.
As for West Coast, I doubt they would reject two top 6 picks when the alternative is losing him for a late first and a future first next year (Hawthorn's).
If he is going to leave, then cashing in now with Tassie coming in means they could have 4 top 8 picks. Pick 1, 2 (Allen compensation), Essendon + Melbourne's first.
West Coast won't get an offer better than that for Reid.
