Serious question, don’t howl me down, but are match payments allowed for under the salary cap in terms of if you don’t play people for eg: Mitch Hardie or Mannagh who would be on small contract, do they not play them so they can potentially pay only 95 percent of the salary cap so we can use 105 percent next year and use that to land a higher prized recuit??

Generally when players are on those types of contracts play someone with greater than or equal to match payments is missing out. The base match payment is 4k, it is a relatively small amount compared to a 15.5 million salary cap

Hopper was too until richmond offered a stupid level contract.

And the hawks have the cap space to offer a stupid level contract.

That said i do think theres a very good chance smith comes here but i wouldnt call it certain yet.

I wouldn't be against trading SDK depending on the options. I'm worried about him. Wouldn't often consider trading a key position player with potential and more than happy to keep him but I've lost confidence in him so I wouldn't dismiss it if we can bring in some exciting talent.

I think the story is a beat up but I'd entertain it.
