By the same token, Essendon are the most improved individual team going around.

Bellchambers, Stanton, Dyson are playing out of their skins, and how did Crameri slip through the net??

Kudos to the Glenbervie mob, getting a bit scary.

Let's be honest, the Bombers would be half the team they are without Jobe Watson. He is a machine. If you stop his dominance the Bombers so vulnerable. He is just so clean under pressure. His kicking still is terrible but more often than not he knows his limitations and handbills out to the running man. He is a top 10 player at the moment.

I was studying, keeping an eye on it online, didn't flick on the telly until Fletcher had been subbed. What's the issue and did Richmond's surge back in coincide with his injury?

Yes...

Fletch tweaked a groin and tried to stay on and that's when the Tigers surged...

We know how to beat them but there is no use bringing it up until its time to put them out for the season!!!

Cheers, and well said! Pretty bloody baffling that a bloke that old could be so fundamentally important to a team. Just crazy.

Essendon? Take Fletcher and Watson out - and they are meat.....

Don't want to talk about the Tiges - except to say that Cotchin is the real deal.

You can say that again. Easily my favourite player away from my own club.

Seriously the way this guy goes about his football is nothing but full of admiration from me. He's the complete midfielder imo. Beautiful skills, quick, strong, can win contested footy and is a superb tackler. He's got it all. Will be the best player in the game in the next couple of years sometime.

Tigers 66 inside 50s to 45 and they lost...nothing brave about that, they simply blew it. Smashed Essendon in the second half but couldn't convert.

Are Tigers really that much better than when we played them or Essendon not at good as the hype?

Interesting results...Hawks back in town, Freo turning slowly into Lyon's monster, Pies and Cats both far more mistake prone than last year...North a basket case...Suns even worse...interesting season full stop.

And Luke Darcy, BT and Richo really, really, really LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Jobe Watson. Even more than they looooooooove Lenney Hayes, but not as much as they LOOOOOOOOOOOVE Cyril. Excuse me while I chunder.

I reckon the Tigers would beat us at the moment. They have improved on last year. There's no doubt they shoulda won this game, you should never lose when you go I50 that many more times. It was the don's efficiency and Jobe Watson that won the game for them. Thought the umpiring was pretty beneficial to the Bombers too.

And as much as it pains me to say it, but Grigg has turned into a very, very good player. Would love to have him right now.

Make that the complete footballer. An absolute champ in the making.

Martin still has a way to go though.

Boy I bet they wish they still had Schultz floating around in front of Jack instead of Miller.

Cotchin is a very, very impressive footballer. Fast becoming my favourite non-Carlton player.

We def should've given Richmond #3 and Josh for their pick #2 to get him..:p

Seriously though, is an out-and-out gun. IIRC copped a lot of flak early, he's no good etc? Anyone remember?

As an aside, will next year perhaps be the year - Carlton, Arsendon, Cwood, Richmond, Whorethorn in the finals? Andy would rip it off he'd be that excited.

re: Cotchin -- it's amazing what a full preseason can do for a player. It's only the first or second time he's gone through one injury free. Little wonder that he's now finally stepping up as the gun he always should have been.

Was at the Essendon V Richmond game yesterday.

What a cracking game of football. Richmond wasted so many chances. In that third quatre they kicked 8 behinds.

Essendon looked out on their feet in the third. None of their players were running. When Richmond hit the front I thought the game was done but the Dons found some legs in the last 10 minutes.

Essendon were leaking forward 50 entrys in the second half and getting dominated out of the middle. Im sure alot of clubs will be having a look at what the tigers did.

Have to feel for the Tigers supporters after another "brave loss"

Let's not kid ourselves, Richmond should have won that game, they absolutely destroyed the Dons in the second half, literally smashed them. The half time score was very flattering for the Dons. The umpiring was nothing short of pathetic, gifting the Bombers at least 3 simple goals, and the Tigers poor kicking for goal gave the advantage in the first half. When you miss so many simple chances and the opposition capitalise and get 7 goals up it will be extremely difficult to keep the momentum going to get a win.

I think last night showed how important Watson and Fletcher are to the Dons. The dons midfield would be absolutely shithouse without Jobe, he's a clearance machine. And they look lost down back with Fletcher.

Yes, I absolutely detest the Bombers, and people will think I am blinded by my hatred for them, but I honestly don't think this style of football they are playing is sustainable over the year.

I still think the Hawks are the team to beat.

When an Essendon fan asked following Monday's loss to St. Kilda if the Blues were entering or in the midst of a massive training session because we looked so flat on our feet he also stated that Essendon entered the home and away season following an enormous training build and that they played the first few rounds like we did on Monday. I wouldn't mind putting a few bob on the possibility that they've already peaked. I'm not suggesting that they wont be challenging for a top four birth at the end of the season but last night that looked like an exhausted team, as IBB suggested. They did the same thing last year - peaked way too early, suffered a number of injuries and the rest of their team simply didn't have the same energy levels as they had had early on in the season. Coming off of a ten goal victory last week and looking so good in the opening half last night it's not the same type of play that we had after we thrashed Collingwood, rather it was a clear energy drop off.

it makes me sick that the bombers are top of the ladder today.

we have a better list and should be further along in our development.

they have more heart, hardness and confidence than us and its winning them games.

today is EPIC as far as our chances for a top 4 spot go
