Geelong rorting the system

Preach.

The club would continue to go on without players who want out.
No point getting wound up over it. We'll play guys who want to be here.
It’s happened since the competition started, and Geelong has had its share - the great Doug Wade, Ken Newland, Leigh Colbert, GAJ, and Tim Kelly - names that come to mind.

I genuinely wonder why a supporter of the reigning premiers is so fixated on Bailey Smith and Geelong.

Fixated 😂😂 I couldn’t give a shit about Bailey Smith, would not be in Brisbanes top 25, thought Bigfooty was for talking about the game, which is what I’m doing. So because the ‘conversation’ continues I am fixated 🤪

Speaking of which

How are you affording your list?

Apparently about 7 guys have signed mega deals and about 5 of them are already getting paid over a million dollars a year.
That isn’t sus to anyone that a superstar filled team can just seemingly lose no one and continue to throw huge contracts at everyone?
7 on ‘mega’ deals and 5 at over a million a year- do tell!! Anyone can make about absolute bullshit comment, it’s just moronic when you try and use it as fact. Ashcroft and Fletcher still in their first deals, Lester was a rookie deal, Logan Morris first year, let alone the massive contracts of Darcy Fort, Lohmann, Wilmot, Ah Chee, Payne, Answerth, Starce, McKenna- need I go on, yep we must be cheating 😒

So who is he replacing on ball? He ain’t playing in the backline or forward not replacing Berry or Fletcher on the wings and that’s when McLuggage isn’t there. We still have to get Kiddy Coleman and Levi in the team, let alone McCarthy who will all spend time on the wings. Unaccountable outside players are a dime a dozen hence why we go after guns like Dunkley, Neale and Daniher. Anyway that’s enough time on here- might go watch the prelim/grand final double (again). Go lions

Neale
Dunkley
Cameron
Daniher
McLuggage
Rayner
Berry
Andrews

All signed or already had huge deals within a three year period.
Or did those numbers just magically disappear?

That’s not even including Zorko who was already on bigger dollars anyway.

In your opinion.

Your opinion is shit, there’s a difference between “everyone is allowed an opinion” and “your opinion is pure stupidity”

Baz EASILY would be in your top 10 players and absolutely be pushing for top 5.
To suggest otherwise is pure insanity. This coming from someone with a Lions supporting partner and she agrees.

I distinctly remember when he single handily put the Dogs on his back and beat the Lions at the Gabba in the 2021 Semi Final.
His efforts were enormous in that win.

As much as I want to get behind a Geelong supporter I don't think this is true for Brisbane, nor Geelong. He's probably pretty comfortably best 22 for both teams but I wouldn't think he's in either teams top 10.

Agree to disagree I think you’re underrating Smith’s value.

I’m not talking absolutely superstar but there’s no way I’m taking Berry or Fletcher over Baz on a wing, and he in a half forward line is way more consistent than a Rayner or Zac Bailey. In Smith’s “down year” playing more half forward and wing in 2023 he was averaging better numbers than both of those guys are right now.

Maybe he doesn’t start over Neale, Dunkley or Ashcroft but that’s because Brisbane prioritise their starting midfield as their strength.

To say “not even Best 25 at the Lions” is batshit crazy.

Top 10 easily in, top 5 I could debate.

I like how you wrote the last bit as though we can’t do literally the same thing from two years earlier, with the result flipped, with a similarly massive win against the Swans, and a non-competitive prelim win.

The head inflation is crazy. We're talking about a deadly close SF or a 2 goal prelim swing from Brisbane failing in September again. Credit to them for winning those clutch games but not much would've had to change for the script to be flipped. It wasn't some dominant season. It was a Bulldogs 2016 rehash with a more cruisy GF.

They did great and of the other finalists it was them or GWS for me who I wanted to win if we couldn’t (obviously I was pretty disappointed to lose the prelim) but a sledge like ‘we will just go watch the prelim and grand final and revel in our excellence’ doesn’t really cut that deep when the identical teams did battle two years prior with the results reversed

You said 5 on a million- there is 1, so you talking absolute shit.

Top 5, my god you’re delusional, well if your Mrs said it, it must be true. 😂😂 I mean I have watched Lions for 35 years but you would definitely know more than me. Top 5- you idiot.

Yeah most likely, my point was someone tried to make I was making the argument because it was Bailey Smith - I wasn’t it was the situation.
Fair enough.

Geelong supporters respect Brisbane's recent period of contention and well deserved flag. They added some balance to the prelim ledger but the vibe is certainly that animosity remains. I think that's a bit silly.

Was it supposed to cut deep? Well how dare I revel in our excellence because we didn’t do it 2 years earlier….

The point is that both clubs have recent success that involved beating the other in a prelim. So a big flex makes much more sense once the next flag is secured

This is all on the pretext that we don't consider a "big flex" after a flag as quite cringeworthy. Which it obviously is.

Yeah I get a bit carried away, I genuinely do have animosity towards Geelong - I not trying to hide it (obviously) 😁 I cannot stand Chris Scott and having lived there for many years fair to say that contributed to my animosity, no one can argue they are a well run, successful club but doesn’t mean I can’t hate them, part of footy. 🤷

You never used winning flags as a ‘flex’ when talking about footy- OK.

Nope.

Its fairly unclear how it automatically supports an argument that discredits another club or players performance, strategy etc. Would Bailey Smith fit into Brisbane's line up any more if Daniher misses a shot in the SF and Brisbane are knocked out? Of course not. So why would the reverse be true?
