Truly a game of two halves. Almost early 90's football. Goal for goal, big forwards taking marks and converting. Great game to watch and somehow we were infront halfway.
Then the 2nd half it tightened right up and the last 1/4 was probably the toughest football this club has played in years.
If Frederick could stick a tackle he'd be in our top 5 players. Great game (in patches) from him.
Reid is a gun. Can't wait until he's bigger and plays midfield (is that his position?). He could be our Toby Green (the awesome footballer bits).
There is no harder runner in the comp than Brayshaw. Congrats on 150 games.
How good is Darcy? My oh my. Has the tools to be the premier player in the comp.
A hard fought win and a close one which we really needed.
A lot to like and a lot to be frustrated with as always.
Hope the injuries aren't too serious.

It was a brave win but Jesus it was stressful.
They had maybe 3 or 4 top end players and a lot of battlers but still nearly ran over the top of us. Good fight from guys like Voss and Reid and Treacy in the final quarter especially. best I’ve seen cox play in a long time.
Some of our decision making is horrible when in possession and attacking though. There is guys handballing when they should be kicking, choosing wrong options and having no game smarts.
I thought our handball skills were average at best especially the ones when out in the clear. It’s kinda ironic when the coach has built a game plan around is being the highest handball side in the comp.
Jackson speared a brilliant kick i50 in the second quarter for a Treacy goal. I don’t think he had one kick after that. Several moments when he was in the clear and could have kicked the ball to a leading target but choose to handball it to someone beside him. Makes no sense.

Bolton mixes the brilliant with the utterly stupid at times.

Out best football brain but far was Murphy Reid (with the exception of Luke Ryan maybe who has always been a smart footballer).
Pearce was superb but he’s kicking the ball far too much for my liking and better sides will punish us.

Shout out to amiss who had a stinker but had some important late moments to help secure the result.

Can we please draft more Murphy Reid types please? More emphasis on ballers and less on combine results and athleticism is probably what this side needs. Thought Dudley was clean and composed too.

Saywhatnow Bicco - whhhhaaaaaaaat?
Really, my purple posting friend?

If you are comparing our genius little rookie Bruce Almighty to the orange grub Toby, then methinks Dr Bicco has been eating too many of the baked herb biccy biscuits

Toby Green is one of the best players in the comp. He may be a grub but damn he's good. If Murphy becomes as good as him then that's a huge feather in Wallsy cap.

Enjoyed that win, Serong and Treacy are elite. Brayshaw too, just that never say die attitude. You can see in the last 10-15 minutes who wilts and who improves. Patrick Voss was responsible for that win. His tackling, pressure and effort around the ball was amazing. Murphy Reid take a bow. He has it all. I can’t believe how big his engine is, he was gut running and willing us the win in the last 10 minutes. Jeremy Sharp found a bit of form, clearly hampered by a knock that’s recovering. I’m starting to believe Shai Bolton will pay dividends.

I’m confident that Erasmus is currently better than Jaegar who fumbled everything. JOM flash in the pan start to the season was only 2 games of form. He’s 31 years old. Can’t carry old passengers. It’s why Aish is sitting at Peel and Worner is getting a run. The difference is 10% but the value in bringing up a young player to the team is huge.

Didn’t like protecting the lead for the whole last quarter. There were moments with 10-14 mins left to play when we went sideways instead of forward despite an open player.

If he is close to peak Toby I will be stoked. Toby is one of the best players league wide, unbelievable player. The fact I think he could have his ceiling is a huge win for us. How good! The decade of dominance is upon us!

Yeah, I've heard "not significant" before.

Nek minnit, L. Jackson (8 weeks)

Or...

Nek minnit, L. Jackson (Test)

Yeh never know with scans still to come, but when they didn’t ice Jackson’s hammy it either meant really really bad or minor.

I’ll take them thinking it’s not bad for now.

Justin’s pressers are so depressing and bland.

I can just see his reaction to actually winning the Grand Final.

That last quarter was an exercise in energy management.

We saved as much energy as we possibly could in the first half of the last quarter, in order to be able to finish with more energy.

For those who call bullshit, I would remind you of how Ali won many of his most famous fights. On more than one occasion he would tire his opponent out through much of the fight, in order to save his energy and win the fight in the final rounds, once his larger and stronger opponent was more tired.

We simply did not have the tickets, or the necessary players at three quarter time, to play out that final quarter the same way we had played in the second. If we had tried, it would have been a slaughter.... because we weren't just playing the doggies -- we were playing the doggies AND THE UMPIRES.

What do people honestly think? That draining the tank fully, and going all out to win was going to work??

Do you REALLY think the umps were going to suddenly start being fair, and change their interpretations?

Myself, I don't think so. I think going slow, and conserving as much energy as possible for most of the last quarter, then emptying the tank at the very close, was the ONLY realistic option.

There was a reason we took our time at every opportunity during the last quarter.

There was a reason we stopped trying to create overlap run.

There was a reason we looked to the boundary line at every opportunity.

There was a reason why we didn't move the ball around the field as much.

We did all the above, because this allowed the vast majority of our team (who weren't involved in the play at any one time) MORE TIME TO REST ON THE FIELD, AND REQUIRED LESS RUNNING OF THEM.

The first and second quarters were beyond frenetic... The first quarter especially. The dogs tired halfway through the second, so we went hard to build a lead, and used more rotations in doing so.

Having three injuries occur in the third quarter was unforeseen, and meant that the rest of the side had fewer opportunities to come off for a rest. The dogs came hard, so our guys had to go hard in response. They did so, and did enough to prevent them losing too much of the lead.

So through necessity, and through injury, the fourth became a game of survival...

...and IT WORKED! We won a game that not many of us thought we could. We did what was necessary to win, and it worked.

No It wasn't pretty -- but seriously ...who gives a **** about playing pretty with umpiring like that???

I repeat: the final quarter was ALL about resource management. It was 100% a tactical decision from the coaching box.

So can we PLEASE give J-lo just a little but of credit for this win... just for once?? Just to break the monotony of bagging the guy out??

He didn't get his job as the free prize in a ****ing box of corn flakes, so let's stop treating him with such disdain folks.

We got the win, when on paper, we should have lost.... So we'll bloody done lads, it was a monumental effort all round -- even from J-lo.
