Im not surprised. I dont like the decision but the afl has slowly been ridding the game of contact for the last 25 years. Some of it im comfortable with. King hits off the ball etc.
Not sure what the afl's ultimate goal is? Im tipping standing tackles in 30 years.

That was a fair bump. Inexplicable that Cotchin avoided a fine for more obvious head contact last year purely for having two priors and the MRP not wanting to suspend him for a GF. Probably costs more in lawyer fees to appeal this but for the sake of the game, Essendon definitely should.

Fantastic bump, shows great confidence and hunger for a kid to line up an important oppo player so fairly at a crucial stage of the match.

Can he contest the fine?

After seeing those stills I am surprised that there is any outrage over this at all.

His shoulder clearly collects O'Meara in the head.

It has been assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head. Which point do you possibly contest?

You can't call it a perfect bump when he hits him in the head, if he didn't then sure, great bump.

Exactly the same fine as Michael Johnson.

What options did he have? He couldn't tackle him, so perhaps squib the contest?

Thinking of Hodge on Heppell a few weeks ago, which was just a heavy but unavoidable clash of two blokes contesting the ball.
