I don't want to heap expectation on the kid, especially after not getting an extended run at it this year but as long as he gets some continuity in his body there is no reason why he can't match the output of Darcy Wilson's first year. Wilson was a similar build and had similar traits (running capacity ect) that allowed him to make his wing role at St Kilda his own.

Love Darcy Wilson as a player and BFNMAAK.

Extreme worst case scenario, IF LDU chose to leave for the Saints I would be asking for Wilson and a 1st rounder minimum.

Runs like Kerch and jumps like Duurs.

All I’ve seem are reviews on FOS, but it seems like he could be the most gifted (athletically) out of all our kids?

Speed, endurance, agility and power. Plus his skills and character seem also highly rated.

For those who watch underage footy, where would you rate his potential compared to Kerch, Harry & George?

St Kilda absolutely screaming for potentially elite

They have 7 & 8.

They select a HBF and a third tall.

Should’ve traded up for this bloke n
They tried to.....7+F1....we knocked it back......they should've offered 7+8, will look cheap in a couple of years

That is Wardlaw, easily. Wardlaw has a much bigger vertical than both Zane and FOS. He's got a similar vertical to Nic Nat.

He's faster than both. Agility is as good as FOS.

Broke some strength testing records at the club.

Only thing he was lacking was a massive tank, but it still wasn't hopeless.

It's not, educated guess, pick 5 is available and he wore 5 as a junior.
Number 5 is our family number. All of us McInerney’s wore it playing footy.

My 18 month old son is named Finn, so it’s kind of nice if his first guenrsey has a number 5 on the back.

It definitely wasn’t happening with the previous bloke running around in it.

I think you can safely assume that FOS will wear the number 5 (as made famous by the McInerneys) and when young Finn is old enough to run around in the number 5 it's fame will have grown due to FOS's triple premierships and Norm Smith Medal.

EDIT: No pressure on young Finn McInerney to live up to its exalted status.

I think that’s debatable. Endurance is worth double points for me. Especially for a mid.

Underrated build on Finn.

He's pretty much ready for senior footy and certainly will be after 3-4 months of preseason training in an AFL environment.
Let's say that is the case and FOS is ready to go Round 1.

And lets also assume we have a fairly full fit list to choose from.

Is FOS replacing Bailey, Powell or Jy? We can't carry a bench full of mids.

Does a year on the half back line as sheez and Colby did. A great way to ease a kid with good hands a great kick and good legs in to it. I'm sure he won't struggle but if he does, the VFL awaits and there's nothing wrong with that.

With the addition of Parker, FOS and Daniel, I'm expecting that Ford, Stephens and Tucker will spend much of 2025 as depth.

Interesting take. For sure depth will be an outcome of getting 3 best 23 older guys.

Stephens - considering what we have up for him, he would have to be up there with some of our bigger trading blunders.

Heaps of years, a top pick, and he’ll be running around in the vfl.

Tucker - agree that over time he needs to be phased out but I think he wil play plenty of footy this year. I also think
He’s the best actual defender out of Daniel, fisher, FOS, Hardeman

Ford - I like Elvis and probably have him fighting it out with Dursma for a round 1 spot. He’s on a one year deal. He’ll be fitter and stronger than ever before, so I’d like to see him fight for his career. Some of our best footy in 24 was when he was playing well.

Unless FOS absolutely burns pre season apart like the second coming of Judd, he is likely a mile behind our plethora of mids.

He can start at HB like sheezel and Kerch did. And he will excel there. He’s better equipped to defend either of his predecessors. He’ll b able to intercept mark, tackle like a madman, provide some rebound.

I’ve got the backline and part of bench as

Corr
Logue
Archer
Comben*
Daniel
Lmac
Tucker/fisher (bench)
FOS (bench)

I did say this before the draft as I knew the Saints were going to keep their picks and choose two good players but I just couldn't understand the logic, they could have had Finn, Jagga or Sid Draper but their thinking is two fold, firstly they hope after three or four years Tobie can go into the middle and be that midfielder that they need and the second point is what most of the Saints supporters were saying, its a deep draft and hopefully one of the star mids will slide to us. Now as we were taking Finn, this was never going to happen and they got two speculative midfielders who may/may not be there in a couple of years time so all their eggs are in the Tobie Travaglia basket.
