Toto’s final watts app message to Lewis …me…

Sad Am Fine GIF by MOODMAN

The sale of Murdoch's Foxtel Empire to DAZN is likely to occur during the F1 off season:

Will be interesting to see what that means for the future of F1 broadcasting in Australa. Maybe SkyF1 will no longer be the broadcaster we get for races going forward.

Speaking of SkyF1 I had to laugh at this:

As you can imagine, Sky F1 paid subscribers are not exactly overwhelmed with this news.

Oh ffs. Already actively trying to avoid Dazn with the NFL, now it looks like we might cop it for F1 as well.
Yeah I use it for the NFL. Great access but glitchy as ****.

Complaining about free content is a little weird

Speaking of Lewis, this view might not be popular in this thread but I liked his little transitional fashion statement from silver to red over the the days of course of the weekend (pure in a colour sense of course).

Don’t get me wrong I’m not his No 1 Fan at times but I love his commitment to social justice work and he went against the grain in the early part of this decade to push action on it and in sum, that’s what Toto alludes towards

He and Max also gave me something to look forward most weeks with that incredible 2021 season when we were dealing with the depression of Lockdowns.

As an aside I’m working my way towards all recent teams in my 1:43 Burago die casts from this era

I truly believe we are on the cusp of the end of an era before electric takes over fully so they will be something to look back on in another 20-30 years with fondness

I think even now his long commitment to diversity etc. (think of his comment about the rapper comment made by Subayem a few months back) rubs people the wrong way.

But I've grown to really admire him in the last couple of years on and off track.

He comes across as thoughtful, sensitive and caring which are traits which rarely come out in drivers at the peak of their game. I have this theory that being the top of any elite sport requires a selfish commitment to driving anything out that doesn't contribute to that one goal of success - a sort of nice guys finish last thinking that isn't acceptable in the community.

I do wonder if he has the inner drive to get back to his best at Ferrari though. I sort of think that one that winner take all mentality is gone it can never return.

Good to hear. One of my sons has the Lego 42141 Technic McLaren on his Xmas gift wish list but at $240 it ain't happening. I might get him a cap...or gift him my bright papaya Ricciardo US NFL top and tell him its a rare collectable that will only appreciate in value.

Nostalgia has a way of making things in the rear view mirror look far better than they ever did coming at us through the front windscreen. ;)

My ears prick up when people start talking about Lego...

You know they've released smaller, cheaper McLaren's yeah?

I'd be tempted to jump on that Technic one soon if your son is really keen - I think they'll retire the set soon after they release RBR and Ferrari versions in March.

I don't think we'll go full electric, some big manufacturers have already decided to stop making them.

My son is 26 - and quite specific in his request. He can add it to his own Xmas shopping list.

Driver roster for tomorrow’s testing sessions in Abu Dhabi

To save everyone else the trouble of googling, Pato O'Ward is not a rising star from Dublin but rather Patricio 'Pato' O'Ward Junco who hails from Mexico and competes in Indy Cars. Someone who, to be sure ;), is in the sights of the incoming GM/Cadillac team.

Yuki auditioning for the top job perhaps?

I think itll be down to who drives the car in a similar style to Max.

They'll want whoever it is to be more competitive than Checo (not hard) but not so much that they have a Vettel/Webber situation. Liam is far less combustible but probably not as fast. He's spent time doing all the promo stuff and is reportedly good with corporates etc.

Pace wise, Yuki is the right choice of the Red Bull drivers.
Mentality wise, Liam will be the one that won't spiral if he's well behind Max, and let's face it they both will be.

I still maintain Hulk or Bottas are better choices if Red Bull's aim is to win the Constructor's.

Then again maybe it isn't and they are already privately writing off 2025 and will just focus on getting Max a 5th driver's title.
