Personally, I think they will start Dempsey as the sub, and take off Will Hams hopefully sometime towards the end of the 3rd quarter. This would allow Dempsey to generate some run off the wing for the last quarter and a bit whilst allowing our back 6 to remain undisturbed for the entire game.

For me the side should look like:

Baguley - Hooker - Fletcher
Dempsey - Hurley - Hibberd
Stanton - Watson - Goddard
Zaharakis - Carlisle - Ambrose
Merrett - Daniher - Chapman
Bellchambers - Heppell - Melksham
Hams - Colyer - Howlett
Gleeson

Off HB with Gleeson as sub IMO

I don't agree at all with the idea of Gleeson being sub.

He's been good this season (and part of a settled defence that's performing really well), and needs to get continuity of game time.

The worst thing of all for his development at this point imo would be to put him on the pine for an extended period.

Very happy for former Rory Sloane impersonator Crispy Hams to be getting a game. Had a tough 2nd year. Very much hope it works out for him.

Yep, I tend to agree.

They might well be thinking that, for Demps' first game of the year and given the occasion, it might be worth leaving him out of the heat of the game at the start and making maximum use of his pace later on.

I'm with you- Gleeson shouldn't be sub.

Started Dempsey as a sub in one other game. Brought him on hoping for extra run and he was hopeless. Couldn't get into the rhythm of the game. I would start him and rotate him off. If he doesn't click, sub him off.

If I recall correctly it was Anzac Day last year funnily enough

... yeah, and there were a lot of doubts about his fitness coming into that game, weren't there? Or am I getting myself confused?
Fairly sure you're right, there were. It was turnover city for him and he looked about a week behind the pace of the game, getting caught htb at least once or twice

He was out of the squad for disciplinary reasons
He was also injured. The disciplinary reasons were because he was out drinking while recovering from a hamstring injury.

No way Hurley will play forward - I reckon they'll line up a bit more like;-

Fletch Hooker Baguley

Hibberd Hurley Gleeson

Stanton Watson Z.Merrett

Chapman Carlisle Colyer

Ambrose Daniher Goddard

TBell Heppell Melksham

Bench from: Dempsey Howlett Zakka Hams

Good luck everyone. Love the fact that others stew that our clubs have made this game what it is.

Do you have any insiders regards Zakka and Carlilse? If they both play I think you guys win. If they both miss will be quite close.

Disappointed we left Witts out, must still need another run.

I am as well because it makes the VFL game interesting. I would have backed us 90% to win both if he was playing AFL rather than VFL.
