For the first time in weeks City are going to look like champions. We won’t trouble them like Palace, Bournemouth and Feyenoord etc did. This side isn’t capable of playing the way those sides did.

3-0 to City.

Words of a broken man.

Tough game for us, Brentford have been great value this season. Thankfully it's not an away game for us. Their home is a fortress.
We haven't beaten them at the Bridge since they got promoted, they're 3/3. Thankfully with our form and their poor away form, we should break the drought.

Need to bounce back with 3 points. Absolute must win.
Hate games against Everton. Always feel like a banana peel game. Really need goals and need the win.

Good round of football though.

Hard to know if City are back or not, where United are at under a new manager. Expecting a City win but who knows,
Chelsea/Brentford would have been good at Brentford shame they are so poor away from home so hopefully they put up a bit of fight,
Fulham haven't been too bad away from home so hopefully they can give Liverpool a scare,
Wolves/Ipswich in a relegation 6 pointer,
Southampton and Spurs in a "will Spurs win the one you expect them to or find a way to **** this up".

all depends who we put out on the park. kdb has helped a lot going forward but palace were slicing through midfield with ease in the first half. no lewis with that ridiculous 2nd yellow doesnt help, he might not be world class but i just want to see him get as many games as possible. hopefully akanji is back and grealish starts through the middle again. walker playing means we're 1-0 already.

Romero in interview asking that Levy needs to invest in the club.
“Manchester City competes every year, you see how Liverpool strengthens its squad, Chelsea strengthens their squad, doesn't do well, strengthens again, and now they're seeing results. “
"Those are the things to imitate. You have to realise that something is going wrong. Hopefully, they realise it."

In other news, Tottenham gross and net transfer spending since 2022 ranks 3rd in the league. Half a billion pounds, 130M more than Man City, 200M more than Liverpool. No one compares to the Chelsea spend of course.

They have spent a lot in that time and no doubt wasted some of it, but when you are starting from so far back you need to outspend the competition just to get back in the conversation.

Spurs big problem is looking back to when they were close to winning things and at their best under Poch, most of the players either left for small or no fees, or are still there but not at the same level anymore. They got a good fee for Kane but he’s the one player money couldn’t replace. This season they spent plenty on kids for the future but Solanke was the only buy that will help them short term. Last season’s signings they’d be pretty happy with still in hindsight but the outgoings the last two seasons are grim. A huge chunk of players gone with most of the incoming money being made from one player.

So the net spend looks generous on paper then you get to a game like Chelsea on the weekend and outside of the centre halves I’m not sure who in that Spurs team currently pushes for a spot in the Chelsea Xl. Son maybe but he’s looking closer to the end now. Same thing when they play Liverpool or City.

Every chance Ange might not end up being the right guy but from a non-spurs supporter to me this all looks to be the result of years of mismanagement that no manager is going to fix quickly. For a couple of years before this it felt like Kane and Son were papering over a lot of cracks and they are all exposed now.

Yeah spurs squad that ange took over was absolutely dog shit, then he lost Kane and they had to spend all that money just to buy players to make a competitive first team which he did last year, there's still massive holes in the team. I think alot of spurs fans are delusional about the level of the team.
Son is there best players and he looks nearly finished, genuinely don't think it's a top 7 team on paper.

Some talk that Nunes will be at fullback on the weekend. Yikes.
guess it kind of depends whether pep plays simpson-pusey or not. if he does i think gvardiol will be left back, but with akanji, stones, lewis and ake all out there's only 3 senior defenders. if there was to be a makeshift fullback it would really only be nunes or silva i guess. or of course a fullback from the academy.

I kind of feel sorry for Simpson-Pusey. Must have been such a buzz breaking into the side but I reckon he's played 5 or 6 times now and we've lost them all. Can't see him playing in the Derby tbh.

The Evening News is predicting a back 5, which would be a back 3 most of the time with City possession.

Ederson
Bernardo Walker Dias Gvardiol Nunes
Kovacic Gundogan
De Bruyne Haaland Grealish

Doku, Foden and Savinho would be handy off the bench but there's not much cover for the defensive unit.
