The suggestion to send them to Div 2 is stupid, if this happen then it would need to be passed down to all teams as well, didn't a Doutta Stars get suspended for 28 weeks earlier this year? Should Doutta be sent to Div 2 as well and fined. There needs to some punishment for the club but other suggestions to ban the coach suspend the coach are also silly. I have never heard a coach say to a player go out there and belt that guy in the head until he can't stand-up.

The player, if found guilty, should not be allowed to play bfooty or any sport again.

Is the Doutta player going to be taking legal action against him?

From what I saw it was not 1 person going silly, it was the majority of the team. The douttas player that got 28 weeks was 1 person going silly and he got what he deserved. Saturday looked like a team mentality to fight and fight and fight. Thats why the club should be sanctioned.

After speaking to junior coaches across different leagues in the last couple of days, they all said it was the responsibility of the coach to make sure the kids that take the field understand the rules in which they must play. The coach admitted that the kids that caused the majority of the trouble were repeat offenders. If that's the case they should not be there. Why didn't the coach take the players off as soon as they started trying to start melees. All this talk about how the coach is a great bloke is irrelevant. He along with the umpires were the only people at the ground that could have changed the outcome of this horrendous act and the warning signs were clearly there for all to see.

Is the coach

Is the coach to blame for the Doutta's player getting 28 weeks? Is he a repeat offender?
From all reports (as i wasn't there and didn't see anything - going on what i have heard and read) the only way to have stopped what happened was to not play the game.

Maybe the coach did try to take the player off and he didn't listen, what is he to do then?

Where was the outrage when this incident happened? If you want to punish northern then where does it end? Should douttas then be punished for playing a player with a number of past indiscretions? Definitely not the first jaw he's broken

.

The reaction of onlookers could not have been more different. The spectators from Douttas were left bewildered about what they had witnessed. Northern Saints fans, parents, siblings etc were laughing and celebrating like they had some sort of moral victory and wondering what all the fuss was about.

What happened was terrible but that is a blatant outright lie

So you were standing outside the Northern Saints dressing rooms for the hour after the incident like me were you ???

Yes I was - except for the times I was in the rooms

Your idea of Northern Saints supporters and parents actually being concerned about the entire situation must be completely different to mine.

Well we will have to agree to disagree.

Any news on the outcome of the tribunal. I wouldn't be surprised if the kid didn't show for the hearing.

Looks like he either didn't show up or the case is being deferred. Either way he remains suspended until the case is resolved.

As for the flag, the only team I'd like to see win is, Avondale, so I'm guessing another team will, probably Strathmore.

The tribunal report for last night is now up on the website and it say the Northern Saints player was given a life suspension.

This suspension needs to be passed onto ALL sports within Australia not just football, because he received a life time ban from football he shouldn't be allowed to play any sport anywhere in the country!

Absolutely agree.

Not that I condone any kicking but it Seems a bit inconsistent considering the west coburg player received 8 weeks for kicking in the b grade grand final a couple of years back

The EDFL site has 2 players listed in this weeks tribunal report. No mention of any U/18 player.
Not sure what site you saw the life ban on?

As a passionate Douttas supporter, it was very hard to see the team get relegated. In saying that though we have been fighting to avoid relegation for many years now.
It is a perfect opportunity for the club to take stock and build a plan for the future. When fighting for survival it unfortunately becomes a week by week proposition rather than making calculated decisions for the future. We can now start to make those decisions with a little less pressure.
The committee at Douttas can hold there heads high as the work done off the field has been tremendous. Junior numbers have started to pick up again, a lot of work has been down on the facilities etc.

Not sure how long it will take but Douttas will be back stronger and better than ever.

P.S. Thought we would of coped a bit more of a kicking on here ;).

I agree in that I'm surprised there hasn't been more of a "kick them while down" approach to big footy toward the Douttas faithful. Can you imagine if it was us Rillaz!!

Credit to the likes of yourself for fronting up post relegation and hopefully the senior reserve team can salvage something from the season and win a final this Sunday. Good luck this weekend and no doubt Douttas will bounce back quickly!!

Clearly up on the website. Players name can't be published as he is under 18's years of age.

Has anyone at Doutta heard anything from the police investigation

Also Avondale for the flag. Abers to make the GF after getting a softer game againt Keilor this Sunday.

Will Douttas highlight of the year be the reserves premership?

Greenvale will be very hard to beat in the reserves - comfortably the best two's side in my opinion. One advantage Douttas may have is extra players to pick from as the other finalists senior sides are all still involved. Thats assuming some of the guys who have played seniors of late may have also played enough twos games to qualify.

The matter is still under investigation so nothing further will be said until that is complete. As far as the tribunal is concerned, the results are up on the website and it is confirmed that a life ban has been handed down.

I am going Avondale for the flag. I think Sadi Ghazi has instilled some toughness into the side both physically and mentally. Having said that though, Strathmore are proven finals performers.

This will disadvantage Douttas. Likewise for Greenvale.
Strathmore and Abers will have full selection as their seniors are also playing finals.

Not sure I follow your logic, G'vale/EDS will be able to field anyone qualified for reserves footy, Abers/Smore won't be able to do this with their senior sides playing finals.

If Keilor beat Abers on the weekend will Mick McGuane be coach of the year?
