Watched jets v abers today.Good game in poor conditions both sides went hard and umpires also did a good job only paying the obvious.Abers done themselves no favours with bad goalkicking.Greenvale being a smaller low to the ground side suited more by conditions I thought..Bicer was good as usual and Connors good for Abers although seemed to be favouring a leg the whole game.Pretty certain these 2 will play off in grand final with Abers wanting good weather to use the height advantage I feel they have.

good basic assessment. Abers lacked small foward. Wind ruined game.Senior umps good. Didn't notice them. On the down side noted a few d***heads in front of g'vale room screaming abuse at the 2 young reserves umpires. Both looked only school age teenagers and ran hard and did good job in very trying conditions. If anyone knows them - would like to know their age and pass on "good job - keep at it".As for the D.H's - stay home.

You weren't watching the same game as me. I watched both reserves and senior games and to me the umpires weren't very consistent. Especially the older umpire that did the senior game.

Looks like unless something unforseen happens the 4 is set.

The general feeling is APW are the biggest chance to upset the top 2, AH are making up the numbers

Big call bangfrom50, AH taught APW a lesson when they played and AH have gone closest of any team to beating greenvale at greenvale and went with abers both times, be interesting match when AH plays APW next week, but do not write them off, very poor call to do so

I would think aside from the obvious benefit of the week off it would be very valuable for the team that wins the qualifying getting to avoid either APW or AH in the prelim.

Cards were pretty close to the chest I thought on Saturday for GV-AB - plenty of key players running around without a tag or even an opponent for long stages.

I agree with this, Avondale are a very good footy side who have flown under the radar a bit this season. They've quality all over the park and aren't to be taken lightly.

We seem to have forgotton that A/Heights were awaraded R-1 4 Points & Massive % also for in my opinion a small unintentional clearence breach by Keilor. Also note that A/Heaights in real terms actually lost the R-1 game on the day by a large margin and was credidited with a 50 point win which set their season up just nicley.

Interesting observation....Their percentage would now be 123% had the game not included an ineligible Keilor player and AH were not awarded the game. This is still well ahead of Strathmore and Marby current percentage and too great for those teams to reach by the end of the year. Let's not forget that the Keilor player was in fact a VFL player who was not eligible to play and who had an impact on the original result. It could not be a "small unintentional" breach with a professional club like Keilor who have plenty of VFL players represent them and they would be aware of the rules. With 4 less points Avondale would still be clearly in the four at this stage. The only teams that they have not beaten this year is Greenvale, Abers & Doutta Stars (who they play this week)

All true but in the end it won't matter. Abers & GV are streets ahead of the rest. But I must say good to see 2 new teams in the finals, great effort by APW and I can't remember the last time AH made finals?
See Mighty Mick re-appointed for next year, he owe's me big time, KFC committee got jittery after seeing the Big Footy Forum, sprung into gear with the local Real Estate Agent and sured up 1 more year of rent. Seriously though, Mick is the best coach going around so good on KFC for retaining his services and being able to afford the price tag. But KFC don't you dare bang on about other clubs spending massive $$$'s on players when you spend more than anyone on your coach.

Also interesting that lots of footy people I spoke to said the player in question from Keilor had been cleared by VFL club during the week prior and his feeder club had not cleared him? Funny thing is that the player in question was on the EDFL internet club list for Keilor so Keilor assumed all was good to go otherwise the player would not appear on the EDFL Kelor list? Unofficially I belive the clearance critera has since been addressed (Changed) after this incident with Keilor paying the price for a non intentional breach of rules. AND NO I AM NOT A KEILOR SUPPORTER in way shape or form but like to think that what is fair and resonable with no malice wins out? But not this time in fact?

Either way, sloppy work by Keilor Football Department. You can't "presume' when you are bringing VFL players into a team over the top of regular Keilor Players with a view to win a game and not go by the rules. From what I heard, the player was not on the VFL release list. That means, irrespective of what 'home" club he had, it was up to his VFL club to release him and he wasn't released. Speaking of Keilor, interesting that most believe that Mick McGuane is a fantastic coach and that cannot be denied, but there comes a time when even the best coaches become stale at a club. After 7 years, maybe it was time for a change for both Mick and Keilor. Sometimes clubs take the safe option of keeping a coach rather than a possible better option of a new start for current players and the prospect of a new coach bringing something fresh with him. Don't get me wrong, I also believe that Mick is in the top two or three coaches in EDFL, but all coaches have a "use by' date at a club. This includes Mick Malthouse, Leigh Matthews and Kevin Sheedy at AFL level.

he left his VFL club and assured keilor there was no contract in place. the only reason there was an issue was because port melbourne had a problem with a starting 18 player walking out on the club so close to the season starting and was going to give grief to whichever club he left to play for.

there was a similar issue with abers (ironically a game against keilor) but the vfl club in question has good relations with abers so nothing more came out of it.

anyway its done and dusted now.

GREAT NEWS on Mighty Micks appointment its not Mick who has overstayed his welcome its the executive that has be there to long. its noway they are going to open the purse stings if they don't they will still be in the same boat next year. with there back unable to hold the opposition to a low score i don't think there good players will put up with another waisted year that bus is warming up if they don't watch out we will be watching them in B Grade and the great coach won't put up that if that. thats when everybody will be looking for blood so its important for all members to get to the AGM so we can get the change everybody is asking for.

Good on KFC & Mick for the appointment but I think we'd all agree we've heard enough about them. They are insignificant in regards to how the 2013 pans out, let's focus on the remaining 6 teams vying for finals...........

looks like Marby have bowed out of final action for 2013, 2 games and % outside from 4th with 3 games to go, still mathematically possible so there a little hope.

Go Marby

Yeah not even Holland who some think(Marby insiders) is the best coach in the league could get them into the finals. From what I hear, he was clearly out coached the last 2 weeks playing against sides on paper even to Marby but they were soundly beaten.... This would have to be his last season

Credit where it's due though, he's stuck by Marby when it would he would have been justified in walking away when the mismanagement by the previous board had come to light. If anything he's exceeded expectations with his current playing group. Maybe it's time to hang up the boots and be a full time coach?

I agree with giving credit to him, he has been fantastic for Marby. I still think he is in their best 3 players so it will hurt them if he stays but doesn't play
