You know what, I’ve spoken with him and wasn’t overly impressed. I challenged him on the Chapman trade and I could hear he didn’t like him.
I didn’t know the full story and he told me as such which is fine but I got a sense of unprofessionalism and how there was strained relationships.

Anyway look he gets great gigs, the club speaks very highly of him, we did well with him and the AFL took him so he is probably good at his job. He has to be or he wouldn’t get these roles.
I just don’t see it.

We did well with him except for the first quarter of the '89 gf when a half dead Brereton out marked him twice and kicked 2 goals.

If he's any good, expect sooking from over west all year.

'We wuz gonna take him with our next pick, honest, you stole him.'

'We'll give you picks 87 and 97 for him. That's the points equivalent of the next 4 number one picks. If you don't accept, you're dogs.'

He's gone to one of the premier feeder clubs in the comp, not much to be unhappy about.

Nobody selected

Jye Bolton
Mitch Grigg
Marlion Pickett

Guess it might be time for them to give up on an AFL career.

Was the Kurt tippett selection flagged??

Didn’t realise he was back in the running
Was reported a few weeks back we needed to relist him as a rookie for payout purposes.

Nice one Cal

They have a lot of live-trading which might make it more complicated. Not sure how it runs though, I'd imagine it's a lot more professional given the much larger audience and money involved.
its not even close...

Think a US Professional sport Vs some Kindergarden kids.

The difference is Mega.

Go Catters

Not denying he was training with them, was more your comment of him being a good pick up.
I honestly think he would have been handy. Blues have a lot of kids and need experience. The only slight on him would be his attitude which by all accounts is one of his issues. Perhaps the carlton staff felt they don't want that attitude around younger types just in case it tips the apple cart.

Yeah, just like they chose not to have Shiel.

Hawks thought they could sneak in an elite talent like Mosqutio through a pick in the 50s. But we said nope. We got the next Cyril.
But if the hawks thought he was an elite talent they could have selected him at 38 as he was part of their next generation academy so they had the choice...

I reckon the opposite. I think Dodorro was just trying to keep Hawks honest and not let them get away with getting him cheaply and the Hawks called his bluff. He obviously likes the mozzie but i bet he was shocked when the hawks passed. He was fake pumping to the cameras, he was spewin ginside, ;)

He spoke to the Hawks people a couple of days ago and was told they wouldn’t match if we bid that early - for whatever a list manager’s word is worth a couple of days before the draft (though the Hawthorn supporters also seemed to think they’d match later in the draft or as a rookie, so at least their info was the same as Dodo’s). Essendon then did more due diligence, spoke to his coaches down at Gippsland, and had Mosquito visiting the club this morning, before deciding to bid on him at that point anyway.

If Dodoro’s interviews aren’t good enough evidence, you can also watch the video of Mosquito watching the live coverage with his family when his name was called out - a Hawks fan was kind enough to get permission to share it on the Essendon board welcome thread this afternoon. Some of the things they’re saying to each other about whether Hawthorn would match and whether Essendon were full of shit about taking him that early or not seem to match the story Dodoro is telling.

Whether he turns out great or not only time will tell, but clearly both clubs had different valuations, different needs, and ultimately made decisions they are both happy with. The kid himself seems very happy too. As far as I’m concerned though, I just like his name :)

Live trading B plus. Bidding system needs to be improved. Also, would like teams to be able to trade drafted players.

Coverage was pretty underwhelming. Need to reduce time in the first round.

Sure give teams 5 mins but I suggest some ideas to reduce time.
1. Only give 3 minutes if a team selects straight away for comments and highlights. Not 5 minutes.

2. Bids should be straight away.

Three years is too long as it means an AFL coach who is feeling pressure for his job could blow three years of picks in one single draft, basically ruining their clubs chances of improving.
Coach isn’t the only one making these decision there are list managers, ect in a full football department

For me, GWS and Port (as much as it pains me to say it) had really good drafts.

Richmond got good value at each pick.

Gold Coast added the best talent over all. Just hope they all stay.

Adelaide did really well, especially getting value adding Carlton’s first and second round picks.

I also think we got value at each of our draft picks.
