I’d be happy to play all of the 8 interstate teams away on the proviso that all of the other games are at the mcg

We can't exactly complain about travel tbh.
I wonder how much of it has to do with losing both games. What if we won both of those games last two years, what would be the reaction?
Bang. GWS aren’t copping well with the news, already posted twice about it.Less to do with results or travelling, and more with being fed up with being the golden goose to prop up the AFL's obsession with the bottom line.
And you'd think if it was just about increasing their supporter base & popularity, they'd give them more than 2 home games in the first 10 rounds of the season.Bang. GWS aren’t copping well with the news, already posted twice about it.
Suffer you orange flogs!
Maybe as an alternative, have like a northern gather round as opening round, spread every team in the two states. There are different ways they can make it better.Quite damning for the AFL when the biggest sporting club in the country comes to them and says they don’t want to take part in Opening Round.
I can’t see it surviving for much longer if this is the kind of feedback.
Compare it to Gather Round. All clubs taking part, slots into the fixture nicely, all in one location. That’s something I can get around and the fans have loved it since it began. Scrap the rest.
While it wasn't at Sydney Showground, Hawthorn did "start the season a week early", playing in the first game of the year against Sydney! It doesn't look like it's done them any harm, but I'd still prefer us not to be playing that week. As for Opening Round itself, I don't really care too much either way.Let the Hollywood Hokballs play on that paddock in OR & start the season a week early.
Shows how much of an impression OR made on me. I'd forgotten they'd even played Swans and it was even less impressive this year with the Qld games called off. While it wasn't at Sydney Showground, Hawthorn did "start the season a week early", playing in the first game of the year against Sydney! I can appreciate the Giants Social Media banter, but deep down you know they’re sulking that they won’t have an opportunity to have their big Marquee Grand Final each year against us.Bang. GWS aren’t copping well with the news, already posted twice about it.

It feeds that bottom line narrative, but I think there’s also a sprinkling of us being fed up with GWS geeing themselves up for it and using us as a vehicle to kick off their season. That Kingsley incident was ugly and I suspect there’s real tension there. Moving forward I’d prefer us to not be the sacrificial lamb for stuff like that and the milestone celebrations.Less to do with results or travelling, and more with being fed up with being the golden goose to prop up the AFL's obsession with the bottom line.
The GWS social media person has tweeted about it no less than thrice already! It feeds that bottom line narrative, but I think there’s also a sprinkling of us being fed up with GWS geeing themselves up for it and using us as a vehicle to kick off their season. TBH I’d prefer to shift our two Marvel home matches into south east Queensland to help grow the game there and give up the gate takings if we can get a foothold into their zone.
He must be kicking himself that he didn’t take it.Daisy being offered 6 million over 6 years at the end of 2011 by GWS to be the inaugural captain was a bit of an eye opener that was revealed yesterday

Didn’t Gold Coast pay Karmichael Hunt $1 million per season? A rugby player!1mil seems a lot for 2011.
And we all know how that K Hunt worked out.Didn’t Gold Coast pay Karmichael Hunt $1 million per season? A rugby player!
Partially paid for and approved by the AFL. I believe Dillon himself was a big advocate for that move.
