A shame to see him go, he was a unique player and one of the best midfielders I've seen.

Living in WA I watch a lot of West Coast's games and Judd was fantastic to watch from his very first game for them, the way he could flick on the turbo jets to weave through traffic and burn off opponents was breathtaking.

He was still a great player at Carlton but was more a bigger stronger inside mid that relied on his smarts to be effective rather than his pure pace like at West Coast, a couple of their elimination finals he was enormous for them.

With a premiership medal, a Norm Smith medal, a couple of Brownlows and a swag of AA, MVP and B&F awards he can retire pretty satisfied with his career even if it didn't end the way he would've wanted it to.

I'll remember him for his West Coast days.

Won the Brownlow just weeks after his 21st birthday, led his side to a terrific Premiership the following year, & was the spearhead of the most feared midfield setup to take an AFL field in the last 10 years.

An occasionally dirty player on it, but a class act off the field. Intelligent man (scored an ATAR of 96), has great taste in women,

and holds life's most important values at heart.

I'm sure he'll continue to enjoy great success as he approaches the next stage of his life.

Only a matter of time until he's inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Haven't seen that pic before, thanks. I wonder if there's any with Judd, Kerr, Cousins and Cox.

Probably second to only Ablett in the modern era of football. It was a privilege to be able to watch Judd live as many times as I have especially in finals when you knew there was a chance he could turn a game on his own.

Put him in the same category as Ablett & Nick Riewoldt as the most impressive players to witness live at the ground. Probably the 3 players I will really enjoy telling stories about to any future kids and grand kids in years from now.

In his prime he was better than Ablett.

I still maintain that his purple patch best is better or at least the equal of any other midfielder I have ever seen. Clearance machine and back in the day his clearances were 40 metre runs past 3 players and either slot the goal or goal assist. At Carlton changed his game around the fact he no longer had the same blistering speed and acceleration yet still just as much impact on games.

Correct me if i'm wrong but his first game was against Adelaide at footy park?, saw him that day and knew he was something special.

I remember being at that break out game for him against Brisbane where he kicked those 5 goals from the midfield. Dad turned to me and said this guy will be one of the best.
I had just gone on holidays and driven up to Kalbarri. Missus was asleep and I turned on the tele in the motel room and thought I'll just keep a lazy eye on the game while I read the paper. Just sat there entranced thinking what am I watching here? Judd just lit it up in a way that is rarely seen. Don't remember much else about that holiday but I'll never forget that.

He was the reason behind Carltons comeback in the 2013 final.
The man is a freak.
IMO Ablett is ahead of him because of his freakish ability to kick a goal.
Judd's ability to break away from packs was his stand out trait.

I think c judd when he was 19 to 24 could be described as. Like watching a 19 year old play football against 13 year olds.

Taller then all midfielders. Stronger then most kpp. Quicker then most goal sneaks.always rised to the occassion.

Good enough to change his game when his body broke down with shoulder and groin issues and win another brownlow. Its tough enough to remodel your game to stay in the league. Let alone stay as the games best player.

Apparently when he played for high school it was ridiculous

It will be interesting to see what he does now.
IMO he would be a good get for the players association.

i read somewhere that the AFL commission may even try and lure him into a role there...

FWIW... gun player at both clubs will always remember his second half inthe final against Richmond, lifted the team and the noise that erupted when he slotted a goal in the forth... and to those who try and pick a winner and loser out of the Judd/JPK trade there are times when both sides win.
