When Keith Thomas came to us I suspected him of being a SANFL plant. I was very wrong.

Then, during the one-club movement, while I really wanted our two teams to be united (see my avatar, which I must fix) I wrote that what was the major task was that our club be financially secure. I'm that kind of cautious person, way different to KT and Kochie and Co.

This chance at the real big time could go wrong, and may not be as good for us as we all want, but I am so grateful to everyone that has made our club head in a positive direction. Everyone from the top down to Lockhart Road and Needs Gravy, and even Gillon and Malcolm.

And with such style, in bringing SA and the rest of the AFL along for the ride!

Our sponsors should be happy, and may have even been approached with an eye to this future.

Essendon Bombers coaching great Kevin Sheedy says all Round 1 games should be played overseas

ESSENDON coaching great Kevin Sheedy has implored the league to take Round 1 of the AFL season overseas in the next five years.

In a radical proposal aimed at growing Australian football worldwide, Sheedy believes the sport is ready to expand beyond Australian shores into the Asian, US and Europeans markets.

“I firmly believe that a game in China and games overseas are what our game needs,” Sheedy said after he was named the coach of Essendon’s Team of the Country.

“Round 1 should be played overseas in the next five years and then we can come back, have a week off, and move into Round 2 in Australia.

Didn't take long..
Yes, I'd love to watch my team kick off their season in another country. 1 ticket to America thanks.

I can't even begin to explain why investing in America is a bad idea. The most insular, sheltered and undiverse Western nation with literally no care outside of the US. Going against MLB, NHL, NFL. They're cooked. Not even the world game gets a genuine look in America.
I thought they just went over to checkout how some of those clubs operate, not that they were trying to get in the market in the USA?

Makes sense.

Forward thinkers the Gold Coast.

I have mixed feelings about it to be honest mate.

But from the clubs perspective it is exciting and a very VERY good opportunity.

I will be putting together the $7-800 or so to fly over :)

It is massive. Especially for the strip. You will be the second club to find your potato farmer and you will deserve it for presenting your nuts.

I'll see you there.

Turnbull's upset the rugby states like we've upset everyone.

Having done some work ( in S.A. ) for a company of Arizonian happy clappers, and been involved in basketball in the 80's to early 90's, I have to agree with those comments. :thumbsu:

Supposed college educated white americans who were unsure which language was spoken in Australia was just one of many What The F*** moments! o_O
