On another note, reading Sliding Doors at AFL.com and a big calls (good call I hope) been made:

you’d never heard of Fraser McInnes before this year ...... we hadn’t either. But we get the feeling we might remember him from here.

This read to me like Barrett thought it up in the last few seconds before publishing the article. I mean, McInnes has been okay, but there are so many other players worthy of a mention before him - Yeo, Shuey, Priddis, Hill, JJK, Sheppard, NN, etc.

All those players have typically been mentioned at some point. It's great to see McInnes getting some recognition, has not looked out of place at all.

Yeah, that's what I thought was a bit bizarre.
The comment may have suited Duggan better i think.

A hand in two of our goals? More bullshit, unless you call his hand brushing the ball as it flew out of his hands because he couldn't control it and luckily enough landed in the vicinity of his teammate who did control it, and then we scored because of it "playing a hand" in goals.
Goal One
Laid a tackle before putting in a second and third effort to create a turnover (by knocking the ball away from opposition hands), which resulted in a goal.

Goal Two
Centre clearance straight to McInnes who marks and handballs to Hill for a goal.
Hahaha ahh the good old "He won the west coast B&F award" excuse. Oh yeah, that's entirely based on how well you play isn't it LMach.. You might want to ask Eric Mackenzie what he thinks of that award from a couple of seasons ago when Mr "I Play Every Week" Matthew Priddis won just because he got a vote for turning up one more time than Eric. ;)
He was widely tipped around here to win the B&F in 2012, as well as finishing 3rd in the Bigfooty WCE player of the year award. It wasn't a fluke, he was easily in our top handful of players for the season. Plus he finished 11th in the Brownlow count.
Just because you get caught up in reputations, peoples hairstyles and beards, doesn't mean the rest of us do, or are naïve LMach. Some of us just rate someone for more than running fast or trying hard. Football skills are something this club has lacked for a long time, and mediocrity is the result, which it seems some are more readily willing to accept than others. Maybe you should apply for a spot on the WCE board or MC. :)
Caught up in hairstyles and beards? That's funny. I'm the complete opposite in that I don't care about their appearance, unlike people like you who think their hairstyle relates to their footballing ability.

It's also funny that you rate Hutchings higher than Selwood and then go on to claim that you rate football skills higher than speed or endeavour when Hutchings is the epitome of vanilla; he's a trier. Don't try to claim that your football knowledge is greater than mine or anyone else's on this board, because it isn't.

I like Hutch and hope he turns into a 300 game superstar, just like everyone else on the list. But to compare sub performances, one against a bottom two side in a blowout at home and the other against a team that's not great but aren't woeful either, on the road, with the contest still on the line, it just can't be done. Can't point to the stats because Hutch did xyz in his time and Selwood didn't, or vice versa, the games were both so different they might as well have been playing a different sport. With the game on the line and a small lead, I think you'd be hard pressed to find more people on here who wish we could sub in Hutchings over bringing in Selwood.
I'm happy Hutch went well in limited minutes against the Suns, but he is a trier in every sense of the word, and if I had to pick out of all the mids on our list he'd surely be in the bottom half of players you'd choose as an impact sub. Can't compare the two at all on their one sub performance this year, and there's no comparison between Selwood's body of work and Hutchings', so I don't see how there's a debate here.

In 2011, first few weeks of 2012 Selwood was an offensive weapon, and for the first 6 weeks of the year was arguably the in-form mid of the competition, was gunning it. I'm hoping he can recapture some of that form.

Naitanui to Selwood was a deadly combo.

at that time he was sleeping in an altitude tent, maybe he should go back to doing that.
we have seen how good he can be when in form dont see any reason he cant get back to that.

C-c-c-c-c-combo breaker!

McInnes has not done anything note worthy at all. He is dreadful. He's out as soon as Darling comes back in and then will be de-listed at the end of the year.

Yes he will most likely come out for darling once jack is ready to come back in. Doesn't mean he has been dreadful (he hasn't) or that he'll be delisted at the end of the year(he won't)

He's not up to AFL. Just because he has a youthful smile, looks like he would shed a bucket of tears if he was de-listed and has family ties to the club -are not reasons to keep him on the list.

Not but providing a contest, allowing our smalls to play as just that and give us leading target are.

Pretty short sighted views there, however not surprising coming from your good self.

Pretty short sighted views there, perhaps you have something in your bottom regarding Fraser?

He isn't taking a defender. The smalls are just playing as normal and will continue when he is relegated to the WAFL. He plays like a small man despite having no acceleration and no physicality. He wasn't taken by other clubs as these attributes were glaringly obvious back then as well. WCE have completed their obligatory family duties now by giving him a few years and a few games - now it's time he looked for a proper job.

Can't critique one of the bottom 10 players on the list? This is the top level of football - it's not the under 14s.
Just because he's not best 22 or even best 30 doesn't mean he should be delisted. He has been useful cover for our injured talls and has been a solid if unspectacular role player in darlings absence. Provides a lead up target to kick to and allows hill to be a genuine small forward rather than a medium sized marking target like he has been used as before.

We'll be better when darling comes back but mcinness has been handy and with his boyish good looks and youthful smile still has a good deal of development/improvement ahead of him. No way does he get delisted

This is something a lot of American sports fans seem to grasp better than AFL fans. The concept of a written depth chart is quite foreign to us, but over there every sport has a clear written and published order. Just because player A is better than player B does not mean they're more important to the structure of the team. If player A is the third best player in his position, while player B is the second best in a seperate position, it might be more beneficial to keep B around even though they're a 'worse' player.

AFL quality bigs don't come around every day, and perhaps McInnes isn't as good as whatever % of the list you want to say, but that doesn't mean he's a delist candidate just yet. Cut the 9th mid on our depth chart or the 8th tweener flank who may be 'better' than McInnes before we cut him as our 3rd or 4th big.

He was a long term project that hasn't lived up to the 'possible potential". Time to start another project. Lamb can fulfill his role in year 1.

He really is not fulfilling the role that you and others are saying that he is. He is getting cheap possessions and not doing anything with it as his opponent is double teaming Kennedy.
