Comparing Chesser and Hewett is pretty harsh on hewett. Hewett was nearly our best inside mid last week in his limited minutes.

Sure, but what does that actually matter?

He came on as a sub and was competing for title of best mid in a midfield of Baker, Graham, Ryan, Brockman.

At the moment he’s a break in case of emergency option midfielder in Mcqualters eyes.

Flat as a tack tbh.

Agree with AB here.

Classic Hewett.

Don't give a rat's arse if this injury is related to his previous ones or not, some players are just made out of tissue paper.

I mean no doubt he is injury prone. But he is clearly a better talent than Chesser. Saying they are tracking the same is incorrect.

Shouldn't be surprised about Hewett. This is a bloke who had a 2 month injury after stepping on an uneven patch of turf. What a fine pair of permacrocks he and Chesser make.

Waterman is even funnier. Will he be on his 3rd consecutive week of "test". The club is playing silly buggers.

Anyway good luck to the 3 debutants. at least that's one thing to look forward to on Sunday.

I didn’t mean they’re the same players .

I meant they’re tracking the same in terms of being able to get on the park.

Better talent counts for little when you can’t get in the park.

Hewett is very close to getting to the level of injured whilst young where he will just never be the player that he could have been.
I reckon Bazzo's there already, was quite impressive as a first year, but just can't get any consistency.

I could actually make an argument that all of Long, Bazzo and Hewett were better in their first year than they are now.

Don't think we should be putting a line through Hewett but Shuey came 2nd in the rising star in his third season after playing 25 games. Hewett doesn't look close to that output.

Probably and I hope your right but you got to admit it ain’t looking good for him.

Well, at least it's not his foot this time.

Having so much time off footy, then immediately playing seniors would take a toll on his body, especially after the Brisbane game which is why I presume he was sub for the derby.

Bazzo’s first year he looked like a good prospect. Noah showed glimpses of his smarts and how clean he can be.

Neither have shown that they’re back to that level yet.

Hewett still looks the same as he did in his first year. Apparently he was close to our best mid, but he was having his tackles broken by brayshaw and Johnson and his disposal was poor. He did show some good contest work in and around stoppage though.

Mini's stated previously he wouldn't play any players under an injury cloud and that is was a mistake to play Jake in rnd 1, so I imagine after Jake convincing him he was right to go when he wasn't, Mini's taking no chances.

Plenty of youth named, 3 debutants, should make many happy here - so much for credits and all that palaver. Still no Allan.
Look forward to seeing how they play.
Pity about Hewett, Jake and Ryan...can't win? (not that I was expecting a win)

If you watched the game you would know that even our “senior defensive mids” such as Graham and Kelly were having their tackles broken. Not sure what your point is here.

lol the melts around Hewitt. It’s likely calf soreness & they don’t want to take the risk when we have in the past and it’s backfired. A few weeks ago he was gonna be an A grader & now he’s gonna be a Chesser FFS

this. we melt when waterman plays through injury and we melt when we're conservative with injury. can't win unless everyone is not injured 100% of the time

My point is that my aspirations for Hewett is to be better than Graham and Kelly, and be a player who can stick his tackles. My point is that I am deflated that he's injured after 3 games (1 as sub) after missing all last year.
My point is we are 18th with the worst midfield in the comp, by a long way, and one of the only pure midfielders we've drafted with our first round picks, isn't playing any meaningful time in the midfield in their third season.

I'm allowed to be disappointed, and certainly don't need to justify it to you, and I certainly don't need to explain myself to you.

I think you should lower your expectations of Hewett and also Chesser.
Ditto people should lower their expectations for any of our senior players playing long term, their bodies are not able to hold up for a whole season.
