Good chance we see Cripps v Freijah in the ruck a few times.

It'll be interesting to see how the best player in the AFL goes against Cripps.

Cripps to tag Freijah?

And when we win and Freijah has 30+ and 4 goals to Cripps 25 and no goals, Brownlow votes:
"3 votes, P Cripps, Carlton"

The Brownlow voting cards for Carlton and Brisbane games in 2025 already have the 3 votes name pre-filled to save time.* 😉
(*Except for when they play each other...)

Naughton only attended 2 CBA's v. the Pies, so can't get carried away but he is so good at ground level that I think it is worth persisting with in small doses.

Was a bit of a perfect storm.

Moore was completely blanketing Naughton.

Tim was poor.

Had to leave Darcy up forward as our only threat on the night.

Made a lot of sense to get Naughts involved, caught them off guard, got Tim out of the way etc.

Think this makes a good case for either Croft/Smith debuting or Buku playing some ruck. Considering that Darcy is the new #1 guy up forward where last season it was JUH.

We’ve been using Freijah in there just to keep Darcy forward. Could be a timely debut for Croft?

Honestly, other than Jones and JOD in if fully available have no idea what we will do this week, nor strong opinions.
The shocking start to the VFL season with only 1 game against witches hats to date and a bye this week has not allowed other list players to properly push their agenda's further, and our injury list still has too many certain starters out.

We should cobble together a competitive team again, whether that is good enough we will find out Friday night

I think we still have a competitive hit out this week against Carltank

I don't know why we don't use Naughts more as a second ruck. He's got a great leap and loves crashing into people. Great at ground level and defensively too.

Bring in Croft as the third tall forward imo

Small doses I can agree with. No more than a handful of CBs a match.

He's not the answer to the ruck problem and besides he's sorely needed elsewhere.

I reckon there will be minimal changes this week. On paper last week's game was a 40-60 point loss, so we did a lot right. I'd give LJones a run or two at Footscray. He has a history of being very rusty after a lay-off.

Out: Baker
In: JOD

B: Dureya JOD Bramble
HB: Dale Lobb Freijah
C: Williams Libba Davidson
HF: Vandermeer Naughton Harmes
F: McNeill Darcy West
RUC: English Kennedy Richards

INT: Gallagher Khamis A.Jones Sanders
Sub: Dolan

On notice:

Duryea - ideally isn't in the best team by round 23
West - poor discipline
Sanders - not engaged / lost confidence
English - there is no curent alternative

The more I think about it the more I'm liking the idea of giving Croft a debut. He has a bit of swagger and is unlikely to be overawed by the occasion. He's the sort of versatile player Bevo would love. Can play traditional forward, wing, high HF, chop out in the ruck or even fill in as a KPD if we lose one of our talls there. He can intercept or be a third marking tall in attack. And he can run all day.

This versatility could be an excellent counter to any plans the Blues have for Darcy/Naughton (eg blocking, double-teaming). If Croft bobs up with 2-3 first half marks i50 and starts kicking goals from them, they will have to adjust. And that will allow us to revert to plan A.

Yep I am 100% for it.

I know it shouldn't factor into the selection but...it'd also he great morale booster RE Marra situation, ie don't forget we have another 1st round tall.
