Good players keep their head in the game even when being blanketed out of it.

Great players do this when faced with the same...

The vision to assess, see and then pin point a 35 metre kick to JO'D advantage, whilst under immense pressure is something that very few players could pull off.

This will go down as one of my top 10 Bulldogs plays ever. Will never tire of watching this one over and over again.

He’s played against the two best rucks going around, we have been competitive in centre clearances and won the games against both of them.

He is not going that bad.
I thought he was okay last week, but last night he was kicking the ball into almost stationary Patrick Cripps, getting pushed around like he’s not there and missing set shots by ten metres.

He is not going well.

The down the ground vision shown after the goal makes the feat even more impressive.

Its at exactly 3:39:46 on the replay for anybody looking for a true pants tent moment.

He knows exactly where the ball is headed before it even left the boot of Haines the plank.

The "oh ****" look on Haines face as he sees what's about to unfold is worth the price of admission alone.

Not sure if you would traditionally call this “Captain like behavior” but Tom razzed the Carlton defenders after every goal in that 3rd quarter. Was flying the flag so hard. I reckon this stuff really makes a difference.

Reminds me of one of the other great modern day captains - Toby Greene 😝😝😝
Duuude uncool, Libba and Grubby Greene should nevet be in the same sentences as great modern day captains. 🤮
How Greene has not been taken out, on a footy field, or on the streets for his bullsh!t acts is beyond me.
He's a pr!cks, pr!ck!!!

No point in analysing English's statistical output because it is never going to reflect his true deficiency: he is a lightweight competing against heavyweights.

Saying he is more mobile the most rucks doesn't cut it. The best mobile rucks over the past 20 years still have a strong base of core strength (Cox, Gawn, de Koning, etc). English is a light-framed player with no natural aggression. He is not a good fit to play ruck in the modern game, especially #1 ruck.

He’s not lightly framed. He’s huge. He just doesn’t use it.

Sorry, I know…was a terrible joke.

I'm back! Got a day off for asking the lovely Blues fans if Kennedy has always been this good.

Worth it.

Watched the replay today.

Davidson what a pick up!

Rock bottom for Naughton this week, only up from here.

Hopefully we can stay injury free down back & get continuity with Buku, Jones & Lobb.

I think in the mid season draft we either need to get a ruckman to press for English's spot or another running defender. If you lock out Dale we're in a bit of trouble back there. Not getting much drive from Bramble yet.

If we can get a season out of McNeil & VDM like what we've seen in Rounds 1 - 3 + add in Flea it'll be VERY helpful.

The constant English criticism is getting a bit tiresome.

He has his strengths and weaknesses, and form ups and downs like any other player.

Like a few others, he had an interrupted preseason, so I think we need to cut him a bit of slack.

His mobility and groundwork help our play more than people realise.

Let's keep supporting him and hope he builds back up to where he was a couple of years ago.

Our current midfield has done pretty well without Bont and Treloar, and he has been an important part of that.

Not staying at the Disney hotels, even though there are 23 of them. Completely nuts! We found a reasonable hotel 10 minutes drive that is close to other attractions.

As for the cruise we opted for the Carnival, bit more oriented towards younger folks/families with teens.
Mods…this is completely off topic…can we get back to talking about the footy? Or do we need a Disney cruise thread? 😜

The Dogs won!!!

It’s great how different everyone sees the game, particularly ones like this where there was no obvious 4 quarter stars for us.

I loved Sanders second half, if he turns that into a full game look out.

Naughton’s had 2 bad ones in a row but was good against Norf. He’ll bounce back. The delivery to him has been horrible.

On that, as good as he played there were 3 or 4 instances where Libba’s kicks into the forward 50 were on a platter for Carlton’s defenders. Not even close to our advantage.

Lastly, English. My god what a horrible game and horrible start to the season. Is a dead set liability at the moment. Zero intensity and confidence at the moment. I wouldn’t have him anywhere near the AFL team.

English was actually pretty good in the ruck (his usual weakness) and diabolical in general play (usual strength).

Weird game.
Tim’s kick getting smothered by Cripps when we were streaming into the forward 50 was the most team killing act of the night… We were on for a goal and he kicked the bloody thing straight into Cripps…

I didn't notice the pinky. But if so, pleased with the decision then.

I saw nothing on the various angles of replay and thought they were guessing. Happy to be wrong though - at the time thought everyone knew it was touched, but didn't think the evidence was there to make that call.
It had to be conclusive evidence that it was touched to overturn the goal umpire’s decision and it was not conclusive at all. Someone here said they saw his pinky move which is utter bullsh1t. There was nothing in the slow mo replay that looked like a finger moving. The goal should have remained.

Hope you don't mind me asking this here. Is it just that I haven't paid enough attention, or has Vandermeer really stepped up this year?
As someone who doesn't see all Dogs games, he's never really stood out to me before but this year seems something of (perhaps belated) breakout.
Yes, he has stepped up big time. The time and games the selectors have invested in him seems to be paying off.

He's an A grade scum and I've always loathed him. He has it written all over his face, you know, those scums that look like what they are. He needs a serious hiding. Everything he does is seriously gutless hits.

Can't wait to see English back at his best.
