Ive watched most of the penalties taken in this round including PSG v Liverpool, for Vini to think he was a contender for Balon Dor absolute mad man.
5 minutes left for PSV to score 6 to take the match to extra time, I reckon I can tune in a little bit now on the Madrid fixture. Atmosphere looks incredible as expected.
Ahh was it the old Leigh Matthews theory of if theres a minute for every goal you need then there is still enough time?

Alvarez slips as he takes the penalty, claim is the standing foot hits the ball before his striking foot. The two replays I saw on stream didn't show a clear touch, would love VAR to show what they saw.

I'm watching the slow mo touch on it. **** me if he has touched it, it's the most gently of touches you can barely see anything at all.
Its happened before, and if its the right call its the right call, the issue is every replay hasn't shown a clear double touch.
Just a quick google had an example of this when Mahrez was at Leicester against Man City, where he slipped taking the penalty and the standing foot hits the ball before the other foot hits it.
Laws of the game says:
“If, after the penalty kick has been taken, the kicker touches the ball again before it has touched another player an indirect free-kick is awarded or a direct free-kick for a handball.”
I’ve seen the replay numerous times now, I cannot see that first deflection with his left foot. Wow. Very controversial.
If the ref cannot see it then it didn't happen. Looking for a feather touch in super slow-mo is a bullshit interpretation of the rule.
The ref is 5m away and has very little else to worry about.
