It's not about rewarding the club with the quality of player, it's rewarding the player (son/daughter) with the chance to play for their father's club and in that sense longevity should matter. It is another question whether that should only be games played or whether years on the list should be factored in somehow - call it the Rhino O'Sullivan factor.Wouldnāt work at all, John Lloyd played like thirty nine games and produced the Velvet Sledgehammer.
SOS played over three hundred and produced Benā¦

Well I haven't tried to quantify where and how much various discounts should be, but that is a matter that analytical data should inform much as the draft points for each pick aren't just done by gut feel but by crunching the numbers over what is now a fairly decent sample size.I still donāt get how your proposal would work

I like this idea, but...Well I haven't tried to quantify where and how much various discounts should be, but that is a matter that analytical data should inform much as the draft points for each pick aren't just done by gut feel but by crunching the numbers over what is now a fairly decent sample size.
But something like:
At club for but no senior games - no discount, but right to match bid.
At club small number of senior games (say 0-10) small discount - say 5%
10-49 slightly larger discount - say 10%
50-99 or say 5 years on list larger again - say 15%
100 or above or say 8+ years largest discount - say 20%
In my view this could be applied both to the men's and women's competitions.
As to amount of discount that is to be determined by stats, but it is mainly about getting the kid to the father's club rather than giving the club a leg up - that is a side effect.
Imagine we did this if Brad Fisher or Kennedy ever have a gun footballing sonI like this idea, but...
Harley Reid v2 comes along, and wants to play for Carlton. v2's Dad is a Carlton supporter. We pick Dad up in the msd. Maybe even give him a game as sub. Bingo, 'free' gun player.
For this reason, I don't think the "listed player" or even 1-10 game players should or would qualify, but I do like the idea of a graded system as you're suggesting, just a matter of when it kicks in, and what the discount levels would be.
oh well.Imagine we did this if Brad Fisher or Kennedy ever have a gun footballing son
Or Sam Rowe
Sorry, wasnāt looking for Harry in my haste.Harry Dean also in the country squad

From the bits I watched of him this year he looked to have some talent. Just seemed to be a player without a position though, hopefully he finds an area of the ground to settle in and develop further.Heath Buck gave Ison a big wrap on his My Blue Heaven youtube channel training report.
Just knows where to be and a smart player.
Sounds very promising.

Looked a little lost at times rotating from wing to fwd to back over the course of a game.
A but if truth to this, but from my research, most of his best work has been done behind the ball. Perhaps personnel or āpreferencesā dictated he play forward/mid. Impressed by what I saw in the futures game, but to my eye is not a forward. From the bits I watched of him this year he looked to have some talent. I liked him behind the ball the most. But he seemed to excel at being a handball receive behind stoppage like Docherty used to do which was a bit surprising given his height. I'm sure we'll know more through his 18s campaign.I think he is developing well, suspect he will split his time as a medium forward/onballer similar to Kennedy, but with a much bigger tank and a tad quicker
Very good footy IQ
Yeah I agree, I liked him behind the ball the most. He has the athletic talent to play forward but looked more a natural reader behind the ball for me.A but if truth to this, but from my research, most of his best work has been done behind the ball. Reading between lines, I have been trying to extrapolate how our future structures may look. With Kempy seemingly moved from the back line, we are going to need at least one viable 3rd tall interceptor/rebounder. Haynes and McGovern will only have short term tenure. (This is why I still see Kemp slightly less accountable down back)
Matt Carroll if re-rookied is a candidate as is Ison and Harry Dean going forward. DGB given the chance to impress in that role as well. Next yearās draft is highly likely to be about NGA and father/son, with a bit of physical development young Gresham will be a prime candidate for our small forward options.
A couple of genuine utility types will be a positive addition to the list over the next year or two.
Was wearing number 42I liked him behind the ball the most. But he seemed to excel at being a handball receive behind stoppage like Docherty used to do which was a bit surprising given his height. I'm sure we'll know more through his 18s campaign.
Does anyone know what number he was wearing at open training? Will White and him look far too similar in the face for me to tell the difference in some of the clips.
