How ****ing good was his goal? He just looked up and knew that if he went straight away that he would be able to get it off with a few centimetres to spare. His mind works faster than anyone else's on the field. And when he unleashed from 50 it was never in doubt.

Did all the hard work in the first to get us going and barely looked to break a sweat.

He was so important, I thought. Love having Burger in our team.

Mine and old mate thatswhatimtalkinabout's favorite player of all time. Redefines the terms space and time. Blessed to have this superstar play at Hawthorn, and in this particular case I am over reacting due to our win. Bona fide champion of our club.

NOT over reacting. Blòody phone

I'm still embarrassed by my post at the time we recruited him, something about " why do we need a soft, outside receiver with serious knee problems".
Soft?
Outside Reciever?
Davo23 could not be more wrong!

I'll just quote this post from a well respected poster.

He's always right!

Just curious as to why Burger was still in his playing gear, when the boys went back on to the MCG stage before leaving the ground?
Anyone know why?

What I love most about him, is how much time he always has. With his loping gait, he looks like an average speed runner, but nobody ever catches him! Against Port he was fantastic (just like Geelong last year), and was the BOG in the first quarter of the GF (i.e. when Sydney was putting us under real pressure!).

My only question is: which club will his kids play for? Does he now consider himself more a Hawk, given he's won b2b with us, or will he go back to Port, his first love?

Kids will love the Hawks forever...
Absolutely spot on.

What will influence them more - seeing Dad win consecutive premierships at Hawthorn or hear their dad & their uncle drone on about their time at Port?

He's now in that second tier of Hawthorn excellence in my opinion, with blokes like Buckenara, Hendrie, Platten, Pritchard etc etc. Then again the top level is almost stratospheric.

The thing is we have him and Hodge and Mitchell.

All teams would kill to have one of those guys in the team - we have three

all three can play off half back, go forward or into the middle - They make our team scarily versatile and give the composure and skill the others lack.

Burgoyne is a very very special player who has given his heart and soul for the club. If not for him we are the 2013 preliminary finalists
