Traded Bryce Gibbs [traded to Adelaide] - (cont. in Part 2)

The deal will get done, Carlton won't want to use pick 5 for their GWS pick-ups and need to get another 1st rounder (i.e. pick 13). Lyons will likely end up elsewhere and the pick received for that could come into this deal.
I think so too. I don't think you will want to give up a known quantity from your core group.

Hence why I think you should be offering up an unknown quantity, such as your draft picks.

Pick 13 and your 2017 first (Let's say pick 18 ;))
for Gibbs + 2017 3rd rounder (Pick 37-40)

Yep. Don't most clubs do it?

Maybe, but it does make one side look a little less accommodating than they would have us believe.

Correct.

This is why I am not sure why you guys aren't offering 2x first rounders for Gibbs and 2nd/3rd.

This way you keep your core group of players.

Hawthorn haven't had a first round draft pick since Isaac Smith.

I use Hawthorn as the example, because they know what is needed to win flags.

I'm not really sure on what the specific trade will be, but that may be a decent starting point. I'm sure the club are looking for alternatives to not taking part in the first rounds of the next two drafts but realistically we need to be focussing on the next two years.

The real question is, would YOU let Gibbs to do that when YOU are in a premiership window?

The fact is he is contracted to us. If you want him, go get him. He isn't coming cheap.

Make the tough call Adelaide, or watch your window slip on by...
Our window is wide open with or without Gibbs and will be for the foreseeable future.
One player doesn't make a team.

Is it? Had a good draw and got found out against Sydney in the finals.

Teams like hawthorn who get in the premiership zone go out and get players that will make them the difference between making finals and winning premierships. Need a key back go out and get lake, need a running defender go out and get Burgoyne, need a ruckman go out and get McEvoy and pay fairly while you are at it.

Carlton are expecting us to pay more for a 28yo Gibbs then Hawks will pay for O'meara and Mitchell. I'd rather O'meara and Mitchell before Gibbs at his age.Hawks get 10 years out of both.

Yeah I get it as we were expecting the world for Danger. But lets be realistic the crows ain't going to give up a young talented player along with pick 13. Danger got us picks 9 and 28 and a 2nds player. It should be Grigg or CEY not Lyons. Those comparing Lyons stats to Wright for 2016 try comparing Lyons 2016 to Wright 2014 or 2015 when they played the same role in the same team. Lyons is only the extra and would do really well at Carlton its what the blues do with pick 13 is what counts for their future. Blues should only target Marchbank and Pickett from Gws Stewart would be good chance of being delisted imo.

Ranked 2nd hardest draw in the competition this year...can't define that as a good draw. We didn't have injuries so depth wasn't tested.
We stood up during the season with 16 wins but definitely failed at the pointy end but we are amongst the younger teams in the competition with plenty of upside. So I'd say yeah it's pretty open. And losing to Sydney in Sydney isn't disgraceful. Losing to WCE last round costing us top 4 was.

Lets be honest, nobody nominates a club and doesn't end up there.

Not always true. Even less so with contracted players. I remember a contracted Andrew Walker nominating the Crows and them trying to low ball Carlton after over spending on Tambling. The Blues walked away and the "disgruntled" Walker went on to kick 50+ goals the next season & play out his career there.

You don't have the midfield depth of GWS, The Bulldogs or Sydney; in fact, you're way off it.

This is a massive opportunity.
I agree absolutely with that but we do have the best forward line, a very average midfield and an above average defense.
Again, one player doesn't solve our issues but someone of his ilk helps

Worry about your own backyard, where'd you finish the last two years?

Adelaide get Gibbs and Carlton's 2017 2nd round (range 19-22)
Carlton get Adelaide's 2016 1st round(#13) and Adelaide's 2017 1st round (range 15-18)
Adelaide will back themselves by getting Gibbs to make a prelim at least and Carlton by loosing Gibbs will finish bottom 4. Adelaide are ultimately downgrading their 1st next year at worst 8 picks or Best result 1 pick. With the academy picks this year that pick 13 will push out to pick 15 maybe.
Whilst I would love McGovern etc I can't see it happening. Seen a lot of crows and Lyon is a tidy player he is nothing more. Probably looses his spot to Gibbs next year.

Crows have a rubbish midfield reliant on 1 player Rory Sloane while it drops off a cliff from there.

They are not silly targeting Gibbs and if all these other players mentioned are so good why even go for Bryce in the 1st place??

Crows not winning anything with their current crop of midfielders right now and their forward line kicking massive scores making the most of F50 entries was the reason they did well this season, but it was found out in finals against the better teams.

I think their midfield is pretty good tbh, don't underestimate the Crouch brothers, it lacks depth however. Gibbs would be their 2nd best midfielder.

The whole Gibbs to Adelaide thing is a win-win for Blues and Crows, take pick 13 and Cam Ellis Yolman and run.
I can't understand the Carlton angst with Gibbs wanting out though, I mean the amount of GWS kids that have come with SOS is massive. This deal would allow Carlton to keep pick 5 and turn 13 into Marchbank and maybe Pickett if the can sweeten the deal.

Sloane gets injured they are a bottom 8 team, and they were a rabble when he was suspended with no one knowing what to do.

Crows are not silly going after Bryce and they have been into him for the last 6 Months.

An argument from a supporter who's own club have done nothing of the sort.
You know you're a flog when you think other supporters shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion because of the club they follow

This thread was going okay before you started shitposting.
