Under no circumstances should we appoint Voss, he is actually the worst of all supposed remaining candidates.

Aside from The fact I think he is a bad coach, he also doesn't come across as a real pleasant bloke, lin my opinion, least not one that should be trusted coaching pur young lads (still remember that incident back in his playing days when he went out with Steven Lawrence and Fraser Gerhig on a pub crawl and threw a billiard ball at someone)

We can and must do better than Voss surely ?

I reckon this comment from David King takes the cake about Carltons treatment of Ross.

"You can't have a 45-minute conversation with someone about coming for the job without virtually offering the job. Just throw another one on the pile that has been mistreated in this."

A 45 min phone call is all it takes apparently - 15 mins would be asking how the wife and kids are and how are you coping with lockdown !!!!

Is it possible that this 'process' has all been a big smokescreen to buy time to allow Clarkson an honorable exit from hawthorn and make it appear as if the club is going to ask extents to ensure we get the best possible coach?

Clarkson stated that he wanted to travel overseas and not coach... During covid? Good luck.

Lyon suddenly went cold on the position after being told there was now a process... Maybe he was told Clarkson has the job? This gives Lyon the power to withdraw his application to make him look like it was his decision rather missing out.

I have a feeling there's more to this than what is made public... Not even CFC are this stupid to sack their coach, publicly state they want an experienced coach and not have their man ready to sign
Seriously, I reckon you are overthinking it.

There's no need for elaborate charades.
He is clearly our preference but has not been locked in so contingencies are in place.

More likely if he comes across they'll try and spin it that he always was keen but didn't want to disrespect anyone.

David King has no idea. Says some pretty stupid crap. Was going on the other day about how Parker wouldnt be a big loss for the Swans... he just won their B and F

Actually, this is one of my rare 'serious' posts. A pretty good source too.
Having said that, he told me the landscape is changing daily at the Club and what's accurate today, can be different tomorrow.
Wow backtracking already :p

I get the impression guys like Clarkson and Lyon would want to be sure that the Carlton of old no longer exists.

They would want job security, which means a contract that has some serious length to it, something that we may be uncomfortable with. This is just what we are going to get with our history. Could be what stalls negotiations or causes them to walk away.

They would want full support meaning if they ask for something they get it, that if they tell the board something they don't want to hear, the board listens and takes that message on board.

They need assurance that board members stay out of football matters.

They need assurance that our football department is top of the shelf in terms of quality. Player fitness, injury management and recovery needs to be good. Our injury list suggests it isn't. They need to know our recruitment is really good and in touch with the best teams. They need to know that they can be supplied with top assistant coaches.

They would also need to be happy with our list, I don't see an older coach wanting to go through a drawn out rebuild, they will want to win a premiership in the next 6 or 7 years at least.

Wouldn't surprise me if we are going to efforts to prove ourselves because IMO we are going to have to.

I don't know if we can do enough of this to get someone like Lyon or Clarkson to coach us. But I hope we can.

I think he's the best qualified once you take out the better qualified options.
Being 2IC at Port over the last years puts him at the pointy end of where AFL is at.
The question would be is he smart enough to have learned from his past experience?
