Answer me this, if SDK is the answer to us "getting it done", why is it that we were 60-0 against the Lions despite Young doing a solid job?
100% agree we get opposition small forwards kick all the goals against us on a weekly basis
So id say we lack lock down small defenders
And we have the worst group of small forwards in the comp and untill we fix this we won't be top 4 and the fact we are short of a fast break away mid as well

Lockdown defender is required but we need better team defense from forwards & mids also which compounds our issues.

Denver Granger-Barrass been mentioned in passing here a while ago. Was touted as a future star - any idea why he hasn’t come on at Hawks?

Please, can you stop with the facts...

We must go to the draft because in the last 30 days this draft has gone from 'ordinary' to one of the deepest crop of talent that has been seen since the Judd super draft year...

We MUST go to the draft so we can play at least one final per year for the next ten years...

And you think wasting first round picks on Dan Houston will fix any of the issues mentioned?..

Look,
If we can go to the draft and unearth a Cripps or a Weitering or a Curnow, Walsh, McKay or a TDK, the FUTURE would be looking rosy and we might even be in a position to challenge in the FUTURE.
It’s just too risky to be thinking about challenging now … imperative that we prioritise the FUTURE possibilities above all else …

Glicksy came in from left field - made a mistake in the way he wrote a post - clarified and corrected it & has backed up with info after copping a grilling.

God only knows the authenticity, but what he has said does add up well & makes sense.

You do know that there’s new people around here all the time & most normal people would not realize that “take that to the bank” etc is a major Faux Pas.

I’m backing it in as entertaining & slightly more likely side of good info, but u do u

As time has passed I've shifted from thinking we should go in for Houston to we should take 2 first rounders to the draft.

If we can get a small forward to impact the way Watson did then that'll change the dynamic of our forwardline dramatically, then the other pick can be used for need.

I've suggested in the past that we are a sneaky old team, all our key players have crept up in age and are late 20s now or early 30s. We could fall away very quickly if we're not careful so a top up of kids is necessary - especially if this draft is as good as they say. Then a couple of NGAs next season then Walker the year after. Should hold us in solid stead before the compromised drafts.

hotton, ison and gresham then c walker over the next three drafts are my preference, with trading only for absolute need or an impossible to refuse offer.

I would consider a 22-24yo KPD as that, a decent HB is not it imo, despite the obvious quality of Houston we have a number of ok HBs and another KPD, midfielders who move the ball with pace and effective small forwards are much bigger needs.

I'm with you - and it sounds like that's where Austin is heading too which is great.

Outside of Hollands, we haven't taken a first round selection since Kemp (I'm not counting Moir).

11 & 12 on dynamic forward half players that can also play around stoppage.
Use Owies' + Caroll's incoming selection(s) for a mature role-player that is best 25.
Find a KPD somewhere if possible?
Ben & Lucas.

Re-sign TDK, Weitering and Walsh - and then hit FA in 2025 with Williams only having one year on his contract.

I have on v good authority 11 is for berry and isnt touchable

Gut is telling me Konstanty, Haynes and one other player (salary dump type in the works that has been alluded to, we will all be pretty happy if it occurs-like i said yesterday an 850K range player)

Houston to Norf it seems

Trac keen to come to us-he has said this behind closed doors confirmed straight from a player manager source of mine. his manager doesnt want him coming out in case it doesnt happen (50/50) he comes out at this stage publicly. He is still fuming at the club and Oliver out does not help (off to Cats confirmed) as it is his best mate at the club.

berry, Travaglia (F1 and owies for 12 with GC) and hotton (salary dump pick, Kennedy pick, Carrol pick and F2 bundled) for a top 20 pick.

Very well known Austin rates this draft and sees it as a way to regenerate the list with 5 elite young talents (3 top 20 picks and campo twins). I also know the club rates ben campo as a top 10 in the open draft and already have him pencilled in to line up round 1 next year-he is ready made.

Berry is the small forward we need. Travaglia v composed HB, I think the club wants Cowan as an inside mid/winger so they want travaglia now as they don’t think they get Houston (this was the logic to push cowan up the ground and Houston HB) club are very bullish on Cowan-idk if you all recall In that car interview with vossy how he said Cowan is now one of the first picked. They know Cowan wants mid time and want to give him that so he doesn’t go to Tasmania-(genuine fear of the club and rightly so as a Tassy boy)

Hotton also high on Austin’s list as a Rayner type bulldozing mid/forward that can win a game off his own boot . I think we miss that atm unfortunately Elijah hollands is X factor and elite as the mid/HF but not a match winner. Needs hotton on the other HF to complement him.

We saw with Brisbane a young core is key and the club also don’t take lightly the energy the young kids brought at the end of the season with all the injuries, which Austin can see also and is using this draft to regenerate the list before tassy come in. There will also be much better selection integrity- a massive discussion point in the ‘crisis meeting’ of all the top dogs I.e. cerra will not be named round 1 (part of why he wanted to be traded also as he got told at the exit interview to expect to start in the VFL and earn his way into the line up which he found offensive). And we will play kids like binns over Doch, Moir over owies (gone and why his leaving-we actually didn’t offer him a contract cuz of his lack of defensive intent), lord over cerra etc.

have on very good authority Stewie Dew coming into help Vossy as a senior assistant- very excited for this he was just with Brisbane will make us dynamicccc

Obviously if Trac goes public it blows this all up as he is a generational player and he will change our whole list strategy if he publicly nominates us and rightly so. My fear is Trac comes out and nominates us and it will be a papley type scenario and won’t happen in the end despite him nominating as we won’t satisfy the dees in the end and we miss out on getting high picks cuz other teams wheel and deal for the other First round picks in the draft.

all i know is Austin is not shying down his got his eggs in all different baskets and knows our window is the next 2-3 years and to be aggressive at the draft pre tasmania.

once again dont have to believe me but this is the talk amongst player managers from a direct source.

we will see, runs on the board have value and so far you're still on 0.

Declaring the player we love and want to take in this year's draft is kinda where he lost me though.

That smacked of posting something in an attempt to gather likes - given said player is seemingly this forum's preference.
