So I just failed another test I didn't know I had to take? Such is life.

The test is that I don't think you have had any close involvement with Lethlean at the AFL because you missed that very obvious reference. So I am calling BS on your characterisation of Lethlean. A storied involvement in amateur football (when he could have chased dollars elsewhere) is a fairly good indication that he isn't what you describe.

This guy?

According to his Linkedin profile "Has become a widely recognized symbol of evil, sinister deception, dictatorship, tyranny, and the subversion of democracy.

Oh wait that's Eddie's profile my bad.

So you know him personally? (as I do)
You've worked with him on programs over a number of years? (as I have)
"Involvement in amateur football is a good indication" that he's not someone who can't be trusted?
I guess personal experience isn't a good way to learn things about people? Or maybe you've just had a different experience with SL?

Depends on what you want to achieve, if you want a perfectly corporate culture that will extract maximum dollars from members with little community connection or concerns, he'd be perfect.

My tip is Incitatus.

Vlad has a soft side.

Known him for close to 20 years. His long years spent with amateur footy in an unpaid or very poorly paid (when coaching) situation is at odds with your characterisation. Other than the recent very unfortunate episode he has ticked every box when it comes to good behaviour and consideration of others. And promoting footy.

Anyone think Vlad the Impaler might work?
That's a suggestion I hadn't considered but think is worth plenty of consideration. I never much liked the bloke bit I don't need to like our CEO, I just need to think he can do a great job. AD has the AFL inside knowledge and lets face it, it's a boys club. He has the experience running a large football organisation. He's played, so he gets the club aspect as well. He's also not likely to be intimidated or subservient to Eddie. The latter is actually a 100% must. Anyone who can't stand up to Eddie can't do the job as required until Eddie goes which is a long way off. If we only had someone who could have told Eddie that a coaching succession plan in 2011 was moronic notwithstanding the success that may have been pushed by the 2009 plan, then we wouldn't be in this mess.

AD ticks a lot of boxes for mine.

Is that not what we have? Our community activity is 100% Pokie revenue dictated and there is absolutely no regard to the membership. We are derided as internet carpers if we aren't supportive of the mediocatry achievements of the last 5 years and we are purposely denied a vote. Could AD actually make us more corporate? I can't see how.

Am I the only one who has a problem with thread title?

We have an Emperor, and he ain't going nowhere.

I reckon maybe 'Duke' might be a bit closer to the mark? Or maybe one of those fancy titles which is ceremonial but with little power?

"Next CEO - Who will be our next Duke?"

How about a toadie, like in Mad Max 2?

"Greetings from the (now not quite so) Humungus Eddie. The Lord Eddie...the Warrior of the Holden Centre, the Ayatollah of goandboneher!"

"I am gravely disappointed, once again you have made me unleash The Gimp. There has been too much violence, too much pain. Just walk away...leave the IGA, leave the deli meats, and I will give you safe passage across the Monash Freway entrance...just walk away, and there will be an end to the horror..."

Well that was kind of my point, vlad doesn't represent a departure, just more of the same.

My second point with the equine reference, is that Ed likes to be the boss, I don't see him appointing someone that would challenge him, which vlad would certainly be capable of.

Thanks for explaining your experience, its nice to actually talk straight on here for a change. As you can tell my own experience working with him hasn't been so positive in the last three years, but that's just how the cookie crumbles. I think you'll also note that I mentioned that perhaps these very same "qualities" might make SL a very successful CEO of the CFC.
Once again, thanks for the honest explanation. It makes such a change on here.

Back at you brother. He is a filthy hawk so on balance should not be trusted.

Lethlean sounded out for the CEO gig. Man we love controversial figures at the Pies. Just keep him away from the AFLW change rooms.

Looks like Gubby got boned thank Christ.

If we dont get Lethlean then my vote is for Mongo Ming!

Do you, Mongo Ming the Merciless, Ruler of the Universe, take this Earthling AFL team, to be your subject of the Hour? Do you promise to use the team as you will?

Ed is our Darth Vader. The Emperor (CEO) think they pull the strings, but Darth really wields the power.

Sandor Clegane or Arya Stark either or.

Perfect.

They will get things done.
