Sadly, Eleanor Brown is off to GWS
This bit annoys me greatly, especially when we'll get absolutely **** all for her in return.

AFL site also saying Carlton the front-runners for Bohanna, no surprise there that it's not us.

Dogs have met with Suns Captain Tara Bohanna

Sadly, Eleanor Brown is off to GWS

Dogs are more confident in Blackburn and Edmonds staying

That really is disappointing about Brown, but unfortunately when the club goes and does what it did to Borg, we can't blame her.

Just really annoyed that we have got nothing out of her for the last 2 seasons, and not once has the club come out and explained to us why.

She had concussion issues. And wasn't match fit thats because she has been out of the game for a long time .

Yep, it reads more as GWS being one of the few (only?) clubs that is willing to give her a lifeline than a genuine loss.

It's a shame because the concussion issues have put a massive handbrake on a promising career.

I hope she makes it back to AFL level but I'm not sure purely from a sporting on-field perspective we should chalk it up as a loss.

Yeah i mean she looked so promising when she played .But hasn't played for a long time so of course she gonna go for more opportunity

I don't think the club ever made any official statement about her. It was all hearsay.

She was never listed on injury lists.

Then out of the blue they made her an emergency for the 2nd last game and then nothing for the last game.

She wasn't listed on the injury lists but surely if she was 100% they would have played her? She was one of their best players and improving at the rate of knots before concussed.

I think I'd prefer we trade for an established player rather than another talented youngster, just for team balance reasons, but for players in our range I like the look of Sara Howley. A clever footballer with great pace.

Pritchard and Fitzgerald are both 22 (born on the same day) and Wilcox just turned 20. They've all signed contract extensions. That's huge for our future.

Absolutely, we've now got the core of younger talent signed up on multi-year deals. Let's not forget that Pritchard was head hunted last season and only signed a 1-year extension, so for her to now sign up long-term shows that the offield changes were definitely for the better.

I think bottoming out at the end of 2023 could not have worked out better for us, with 3 of the 4 top 10 picks we had showing more than enough. Weston-Turner being a KPP is naturally going to take a few years but we saw glimpses of her insane talent, Grigg’s tackling and speed is something we’ve been lacking, while Buttifant looks to be a terrific addition to our defence. Barwick did an ACL in her draft year so we’ll hopefully see her at full strength in 2025.

Even though we haven’t recruited a big fish, the players we have brought in over the past two seasons have been solid as well, Gorham being the clear standout, but Ahrens, Carruthers, Farquharson, Kimber, McKee and J. Smith have all played their part. Gorham is 23, Farquharson is 22, while Kimber, McKee, and J. Smith are all 21 or younger. They are still very young but have plenty of upside.

Obviously a long way to go and still plenty to do both on and offield, but the program is in a much better position now than it was 12 months ago.

Adding to the midfield and forward lines will no doubt be a focus for the Bulldogs throughout the off season. Given the strength of this year's draft class and the number of highly skilled midfielders and forwards available, they would be forgiven for focusing heavily on recruiting young players at the draft. But another experienced, hardened player from another club wouldn't go astray. Positively for the club, several important players who were expected to seek trades have opted to stick around, including Isabelle Pritchard, who has signed until 2027, and Isabella Grant, who has extended until 2026.
