Reckon it was the vic clubs pushing for it too.
Of course it is, especially with the talent we've managed to pull in with the state based drafts.

They would've been happy with the state based drafts early on because they believed all the talent was in Victoria, whereas SA was a black hole that was behind NSW and Queensland.

Without a doubt, Lily Paterson was one of, if not the, biggest improver in 2024. She showed promising signs as a bottom-ager, largely in spurts playing forward, but a midfield move for Swan Districts prompted a huge change in the top-ager as she quickly became one of the most prolific players in the WAFL Women’s.

Paterson is relatively new to the sport, having picked up the code a few years ago after coming from a dual soccer and netball background. She was invited to try out at the Swans, and since then changed her opinion and never looked back. Learning the sport took a little while which is why there was somewhat of a slow burn for the ball-winner, but once it all clicked, it was evident to see.

One of Adelaide or Brisbane have literally been in every grand final since the inception of the league. They've played each other twice.

Misread.

So make it 2 of the 4 clubs who you claim would be too dominant haven’t made a grand final.

Its wild to claim clubs who haven’t made a grand final yet had to be nerfed because that would become “too dominant”

That's an interesting pick. I don't think many places I've looked like even expected her to go in the first two rounds

Massive bolter

Sarah Black had her in the mix to go early but then she had a about 40 in her top 20 :D

Its honestly pretty obvious logic.

Adelaide and Brisbane had unrestricted access to the South Australian and Queensland drafts and became completely overpowered. Port and GC are late joiners that would be getting access to those same drafts that gave the same crazy advantages that Adelaide and Brisbane had. If we'd gone in rather than them we would probably have been just as dominant. The fact that in just a couple of drafts we went from inception to a prelim says a lot. We've had TWO rising stars in 3 years in the comp, and have also had the runner up in one of those years.
