He's very, very good at reading the ball off ruck taps and in motion. Usually very clean at collecting and moving through congestion to transition from inside to outside of a stoppage, and we've seen how he can play massive games in the wet.

He's a guy you want as your 2nd or 3rd best midfielder alongside some bigger bodies IMO. Imagine him lining up with guys like Dangerfield and Holmes (both ~ 190) alongside him.

Our midfield mix is a bit wonky because we simply don't have the big bodies to roll through there, and we lack genuine hardball winning players, so Parish is a bit of an odd one out. But he can certainly win contested possessions, just not the hardball gets component that we don't really have anyone else doing either.
Agree. Think in the right midfield he looks a lot better than he has this year. Been injured too. Link up handball is very good. Plenty of other guys I'd be selling first.

He averaged 1.25 goals a game in the second half of the year, so not really consistent. And has kicked 50 goals once (in 10 years).

He's a very good player, but 'a consistent 50 goal/year forward' is factually untrue.
Since moving forward, minus the injury hit period of late, he's been very consistent, extremely accurate, talked of as AA at times. Borderline elite. Genuinely think he's Ne of our best.

Nothing we can do. Can't force him interstate. We are stuck with him and he knows he can comfortabely get through the rest of his career on secured money. Our mistake was signing him so we have to own it.
Sunk cost fallacy. We could force him out and get a second for him no doubt. I’d even pay some salary.

All the Massimo stuff is very hindsight by alot of you saying it

I never heard anyone say he was out best or 2nd best kick last year? Feel free to prove me wrong that you did
No it wasn't hindsight. His kicking was never in doubt. It's his defence that was doubtful, but we were playing him as a defender and at times as a forward. With Durham moving to the middle, a spot on the wing should have gone to him.

Not saying hes a good kick

Im saying i didnt hear or read on here 12 months ago he was our best or 2nd best kick?

Can you imagine Martin, D'Ambrosio and Duursma holding down the wing? We'd be set for years to come.

Instead, we played a guy that just retired, a tall forward and a skinny 200cm guy at various stages alongside Duursma.

Hopefully Saad, Martin and Duursma can be equally as good if not better next year.

But that requires Scott to use his common sense and play Martin on the wing. None of this Martin at HB anymore. That's probably one of the biggest disappointments of the year. Moving an AA quality winger to HB.

We were far more successful with Martin off half back than when he played wing and things went to shit

Im not saying its only that but we need to find alot of half backs to allow that to be a consistent and work to some degree

Martin's best this year was forward of centre. A winger that pushes up the ground to kick goals is the role he should play for us. He should never ever return to HB.
