Media won him this award. Shuey leads every stat bar contested marks and contested possessions.

Bitter? Perhaps but only because Shkey should have been outright favourite. Bring on Saturday instead.

I reckon that result is piss poor. I really do, I know it's not a big deal but christ can we get some unbiased judges please! For Schuey only to get one 5 amazes me.

Glad Shuey didn't win. Didn't want any extra hype for the club going in to Saturday. I'm sure the media has been going gangbusters over in Perth, not so much over here.

Sheehan's article this morning suggests otherwise, and I don't know if he actually votes?? Jako will have gone the Shue, surely!!!

In the scheme of things, two players in the top 5 (Shuey, Darling) and a third getting votes (Gaff) proves the potential of our team. :thumbsu:

I don't read news articles so wouldn't know. Pretty sure he does vote, and thought he would be the least biased out of the lot. I could be wrong, meh.

It's pretty damn hard to win being a third year player. You really have to be head and shoulders above the rest and have the hype factor as well. Had a better season than Heppell, but not by a huge margin, wasn't enough in the end.

Disappointing, but you move on. Judd and Kerr missed out as well, and they both turned out alright!

Shuey is a ****ing champ regardless.

Juddy didn't win nor did Kerr.

Heppell is a very good player but by no means will he be a better player than Gaff let alone Shuey.

The award isn't a big deal anyway, Shuey will have a Premiership medallion before Heppell.

Guys, try not get too bloody upset. Naturally being Eagles fan we're biased, and if Heppell didn't win it, the Bombers fans would be the ones pointing out why it was a shit call....

Heppell is worthy, and I can't even name 75% of the guys that have won it anyway. So, no mass suicide today please.

Disappointing for Shuey - thought he had the better year but to be honest in my opinion the difference was only marginal (don't kid yourself Heppell was exceptionally good for the Bombers) and you couldn't begrudge Heppell the award.

Gee, he's acting like a bit of a dick though....

whaaa?.....

I take it back, Heppel handled himself quite well.

phew :p

Shuey was robbed! Right in front of me!

RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

genuine lol :D

this, this, and this.

Shuey is a ****ing gun, would have been a worthy winner, and will be a champ for the next 10-12 years.

But really, we all know this award means nothing and is really just a vehicle for sponsorship. I'd love Shuey in my team, and I can't wait to see him cut it up this finals series :thumbsu:

Hey Heppell is a deserving winner though. Shuey is still outstanding and will be a star, but you guys make it as if Heppell does not deserve it. Honestly do think that Heppell had a better year but thats my opinion. You should be very happy with Shuey as he has been excellent and so has Heppell.

Spot on.:thumbsu:

I think Heppell is a deserving winner but Shuey had the better year by a decent margin (not a lot but enough to know there was a gap).
Judging by their own rules where if your eligible its who had the best year shuey should have won it. But tbh i don't really mind that they factored in age a bit its probably fair.

A bit disappointing, nevertheless congratulations to Heppell who has definitely been the best first year player.

I find the landslide result a little surprising though? 44 of a possible 45 votes. Did not expect that.

Fair enough. There was never a lot between them. Both had good season but some of the West Coast fans are saying that Shuey was robbed. How can one be robbed if there was not a lot in it to start with. By the way Congrats on having Shuey, Gaff and Darling poll. all will be stars (Although I hope one will play for Essendon :D)

This is a blessing in disguise. It will spur Sheuy to rub it in the face of the selectors this finals series and until he wins his deserved brownlow.

Methinks Shuey will have something to prove during this finals series...

I doubt Shuey will give a shit tbh. Won't make a difference to his performance as he's a professional who would probably keep playing well regardless

Surprised at the one-sidedness of the result. Not surprised by Heppell wins. Would've thought it would be more 5-4 or 6-3.

I think Darling has had a massively underrated season. Only six of the nine judges gave him 1 vote ?!?! WTF is that. We're talking about a starting HF for a top 4 team who has performed his role anywhere from average to very good most weeks.

Anyway, back to the important stuff. :)

What a farce, Shuey should have won it by a mile, but ended up loosing to Heppell by 7 votes. Should be called the VFL Rising star award. Big boys club AFL/VFL. Those Essendon supporters who think he had a better year than Shuey obviously didn't watch enough west coast games or they should just stick there heads back in the sand. Shuey is the next Judd.
