Great article you wrote regarding the trade ban mate :thumbsu: i dont want advantages i just dont wanna become another Brisbane Lions MK2 where a majority of our young talent leaves.

Needs to be a balance you remove COLA, make us pay premium for the academies on top of the money we are already paying to try and keep talent in Sydney then you end up like a scenario of the early 90's again.

Wrong Moore;)

Joemoore12 is who your looking for

Anyone seen an article in The Age this morning that throws further light on what we are doing? Appreciate it if you could update us. Apparently talks about silks wanting to do our case for free! Maybe they smell a little bit of fame from what they view as an easy kill?

Could just see them playing that Gillon McLaughlin interview where his justification for the ban was a flimsy "you can't have everything". That really sums up the ban nicely. Just writing that has put the smell of "blood" in my nostrils. Thinking this would be delicious in court, worth flying in to watch the case live!

Here's another one. Chin Chin at it again

Just to be clear: Luke Darcy was speaking for Eddie the other day. It's the Hot Breakfast League right now. And it's an all out assault from channel Ed here.

There is no reasonable argument in the trade ban's favour. It's all born of a pernicious bloodlust by bigots who are seeking reparations from the Swans for the heinous crime of having previous (and completely lawful) success.

The fact that Sydney are in a position to avoid being bullied into dereliction the way Eddie bullied the Lions into a permament bottom 6 state must be driving him mental.

I disagree to a certain extent.

He is over the moon rather than not caring where they are.

Brisbane, or more correctly the Queensland market, was a major factor in the AFL securing a $2.5 billion deal for the TV rights. If all they watched up there, because of lack of choice, was League then the $'s would have been less.

The bonus for Eddie is both clubs suck and don't beat the Pies regularly. Extra bonus is they hardly challenge for the 8 so that means more Victorian clubs in the finals for him to watch.

He is just working to ensure Sydney, and soon as he can GWS, follow the same path. Provide the market to grow for his Victorian centric vision of what should be the national winter sport.

He totally gives a **** that he can also affect how the go on the field as well from his position of privilege.

It is actually corrupt but hey - that's the AFL as it currently stands.

Im convinced at this stage he is just taking the piss, look he is a intelligent man he wouldn't be where he is without a brain.

He knows the audience he is pandering to.

Ahh!
I beg to differ!

An intelligent man wouldn't have made the King Kong comments on live radio only days after the controversy of Goodes being called an ape by a Collingwood supporter.

He is far from intelligent on many matters.

I might add, that the connection between nearly all the commentators that are against us is so obvious that it is laughable.

Eddie & Darcy on Triple M!

Sam Newman, Derm.
The silence is deafening from other on the matter as well. People like Gary Lyon.

They all actually believe that none of our success over the last 15 years or so is because of great club management but because of the 'advantages' we have had.
I hope a Victorian club never again wins a p'ship.

Now have the AFLPA on our side in trying to overturn the trade ban.

Interesting article. We present to the Commission next Wednesday and Paul Marsh will meet with the AFL regarding the trade ban as well. Hasn't ruled out further action as well.

Also this part really pissed me off McLachlan directly lying to one of our players and then refusing to reply to correspondence from Andrew Ireland requesting that he and the AFL keep claiming we were aware the trade ban was coming.

Pridham revealed that Ireland had written to league boss Gillon McLachlan requesting the AFL desist from claiming Sydney had been aware of the coming trade ban as it negotiated its phase out of the cost of living allowance.

The club's frustration had mounted after senior player Ted Richards had questioned McLachlan about the trade sanction at a player meeting with AFL chiefs during the 2015 pre-season.

McLachlan's explanation included the claim the club had been aware of the forthcoming ban.

That comment provoked the Ireland correspondence to which McLachlan did not reply.

The claim was repeated last week on Melbourne radio by AFL football boss Mark Evans, which Pridham said had fuelled the club's disenchantment with the competition's governing body.

Beyond livid at this point when players are being lied to

From what I gathered over the last two seasons its quite common for the AFL to simply ignore correspondence from our club for months at a time.

They're not just a plaything of the melbourne elite...the AFL actually are deluded enough to think they ARE the elite and beyond accountability.

Let's face it there's almost 50k paid up Swans' members now. It's not as if the AFL can ignore their fidiciary duties to us all and simply throw us under a bus.

The AFLPA could be a very prickly opponent in the upcoming CBA talks. It's wonderful to hear they have our back on this one.

Yep they can't win from here. Having the AFLPA on our side is massive and going via the proper channels to express our discontent with how they have painted our version of events leaves them with no wiggle room.

They either stick with what they have decided, or backdown and lose face. There is no middle ground and one leads to a court case they can't win

It's time the AFL comes out and says they made a decision they thought was in the league's best interests, but after extensive consultation they now accept the ban had far wider implications upon player restraint than they originally envisaged.

No need to apologise. Don't care. Just end the ****ing ban and we can all get on with our lives.

Sounds a bit like the sub rule!

From Vic media the only one's I've heard speaking against the ban are Andy Maher and Tim Watson but mostly from the "We don't understand why it has happened angle". They haven't been taking anyone to task/ digging - but at least they haven't been calling it justified.

On a side note - would Jed Adcock be worth looking at if you can't get rid of the ban (would be < 350k for sure)?
