Find it funny the AFL coming out and whacking Hinkley with a fine for what he did - yet will freely use that moment as a marketing tool to promote that game 😂

Fwiw fk Ken but it is ironic.

Can the AFL pls for once get the fixturing of the rounds before and after the Easter Monday game right for once also. Recall last year Collingwood playing the Thursday night, us playing Easter Monday and then playing each other in gather round. Same thing going to give the cats a leg up this year

Also, the fact that it's a bonus home game for Port. Gather Round is a disgusting exercise in favouritism toward the two Adelaide teams.

Travelling north for opening round into an Adelaide team for gather round and its starting to look like a tough fixture already.

Prime time brings its own challenges. Hopefully we are up for it. (An injury free pre season would be a flying start).

Which leads to them getting home finals.

Really, as far ai I can see, the only way to mitigate home and away inconsistencies is to make first week of finals two legged ties. A lot of sports do this. Not sure it’s right for afl tradition, but afl tradition is finals at neutral grounds.

It’s the quickest fix in my view

To be fair, we were always going to play Port in Adelaide. Whether it was Gather Round or not potentially means another MCG game

I doubt we get bye round 2, I think more after Easter Monday - that will also help scheduling moving forward. I think round 2 would be another Melbourne side (dogs or saints) as our home game. And on thinking deeper of ****ing course it will be at their home ground (marvel).

The other chance is it will be first Tasmania game vs freo

So within the first 5 rounds we will get Sydney away( R0 ) , Port away (gather round) and Geelong (Easter Monday)
In the same period Carlton will play Richmond (opening round) , West Coast (gather round ) and North on Good Friday.
I feel we are going to be really screwed with the fixture .
At least we will be prime time scewed

Iron sharpens iron.

The fact it is in Gather Round means one extra game with away game disadvantage.
Only if matched up against an SA team - which we have next year for the first time.

So far it's been Carlton, Dogs, Melbourne, Essendon. Probably fair that it cycles around to everyone eventually.

If the Cats try to take Easter Monday to Geelong, we should ask the AFL to switch our annual opponent to Carlton.
The AFL simply will not let a marquee game be played at Geelong on a public holiday when the MCG is sitting there.
