I’m in the same boat as the past few posters. They royally stuffed it up and dropped the ball last time around BUT ultimately I do want to see Big Ant make a successful and fun AFL game. I think how bossman handled himself also adds to the stench from AFL 23 too.

Big Ant had me for way longer than most others. I think out of desperation more than anything else I was still high on copium that AFL 23 would be a return to form.

At this point it's impossible to be anything other than negative. Literally any argument you can put forward as to why this won't be an abject failure is able to be instantly rebutted by proof of any one of their many recent releases.

"Screenshots look good" - so did 23
"Hanger clip looks brilliant" - so did the 23 trailer
"They have a base to build on" - so have all their recent cricket games
"They will have learnt from the botched release of AFL 23" - this exact thing was said about Cricket 22

I want this to succeed as badly as anyone out there. But implying that the negativity is unfair or unwarranted is just off the mark. At this point it is earned, the onus is on them to prove their worth and blow our socks off because at the moment it's only fair we expect the precedent they have set.

I definitely think Nacon has played a big part in the quality control across games. AFL live they were by themselves. So many projects in one year greenlit by Nacon when 23 came out from memory and they almost all got delayed.

No, it was with Tru Blu. Once Tru Blu stopped publishing their games with Rugby League Live 4 being their final game in 2017, they've noticeably been pumping out shovelware since that AO Tennis 1 game in 2018.

I remember Ross getting into unprofessional arguments with Tru Blu peeps on here too. And with Wicked Witch. And with his actual and potential customers.

Common denominator there.

That was the most surreal thing to see a company owner mocking their ex-employer straight at them on an internet forum, who had given millions to his company.

Even back in AFL Live days he got bizarrely angry at me for asking about sock height.

His behaviour towards Wicked Witch was pathetic, to be perfectly honest.

Nacon are in France so they must be safe

The only thing had BA made 23 a great game, exceeding WW efforts, then I could get why he was mocking them, but then Ross turns around and does worse than WW's efforts with 23, and then goes silent just like how he criticized WW and Tru Blu for doing is so ironic. It's crazy how 23 makes WW's efforts look like masterpieces by comparison, just by the fact you can actually play their footy games, ie functioning user commands.

And worse, he then either deludedly denied or argued with posters who quoted his baggings of WW on here, which were highlighting the hypocrisy when AFL 23 either did something just as poorly, or more often, much worse.

Best thing Nacon/Big Ant could do is thank him for his contributions and future endeavours him.

Was the release date announcement just a knee-jerk reaction to the classification listing getting leaked or can you actually release a sequel with no build-up, especially when you destroyed your credibility last time around?

Would guess the absolute disaster of 23 had something to do with being a smidge overhyped (playable set shots at GF day, teasing modes that either took months to release or just never existed, paying streamers and YouTubers to gas the game up, having a whole event showcasing the game with active AFL stars)

No buildup = no expectations

Were really about to pay $100 for the same heaping pile of garbage arent we

at least give us a little teaser each day.

If this is the official full trophy list then it's not a good sign for the player career mode. No trophy at all about that mode. No 'win a brownlow with your player' or even a simple 'get drafted to an AFL team as your player' which is a very easy thing to include in the trophies.

I fully expect the player career mode to get dropped just before release.
