Multiplat AFL 23: Launch Thread (Xbox release date TBC)

STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

That was Live 2 from memory
The Evo games were never this bad at launch

I didn't. I made about 5 posts in the other thread. Didn't ask any questions. Just read the devs response to others. And asking for a list of features isn't a demand, it's standard stuff any other game developer on earth would release before or at the time their game was released.

It’s not just you it’s a lot of others on here that have spent hours on the previous thread just talking crap and then when someone like yourself comes in with a similar tone to others it’s no wonder Big Ant might ignore.

I agree a list of features and standard stuff would cool people down but the way some are going about it, it’s obvious and common sense that Big ant might hit the ignore button. Yes people are frustrated but just deep breath and just chill. Hopefully all these questions will get answered soon enough. Who knows

Haha I remember in the old thread someone mentioned some old gridiron game that was so broken someone could run rings around everyone scoring touchdowns at will and I was like yeah but there's no way that'll happen now.

Yes patches are coming and it’s been said already that the digital version launched isn’t the latest version so BA are working hard to fix these issues.

Just be patient, it’s day 1 remember.

My comment wasn't so much about the state of the game at the moment, more so about what has become apparent were deliberate decisions to hide information about both the state of the game and the features included.

Hopefully the state leagues get patched in, heard twistie3 saying vfl/sanfl/wafl players signed likeness contracts - would be a shame if state leagues got scrapped from the game at the expense of pro team

Anyone with the disc version, is it possible to play without downloading whatever the **** Big Ant put on Sony's servers?

Curious to see if whatever was printed on the discs is better than the launch version on the servers.

A few quick notes:

Pros (yes, I'll be generous)

• It's a very pretty looking game
• The spoiling really looks nice
• It's actually possible to chain up a bunch of nice kicks
• Set shots look pretty

Cons

• This is a broken game. The AI is broken. I'm playing on hard and this is basically a training run. Handballing is so hard/broken (see below) that I wanted to really play around with it and I was able to just handball around as much as I wanted to try and get the hang of it and the AI don't touch you. I've never seen such bad AI in a sports game
• Handballing is broken. It's almost impossible to hit a target, yet somehow with kicks it's really smooth?
• The ball rolls along the ground at a ridiculous speed
• Did a kick out and I directed the kick and everything and he kicked it over his head for a deliberate rushed behind
• Just bugs galore
• Completely broken game. See below... casually standing next to the opposition player for 2 minutes until the quarter ran down
