ohhhhh this is setting up beautifully!

Blues Vs Wobbs

What a week and game it promises to be.

Now, for the Brians....
There's just no way

Every time we play a GF, the hot favourite in the other prelim has a very easy win, ie over at qtr time

Always happens!!

Expecting the same tomorrow, Blues are beaten up and limping and won't want to do Collingwood any favours by giving Brisbane a tough game

I think traditionally finals have been seen as benefitting slower, stronger teams while disadvantaging those that prefer to play quick on transition. However this finals series has three teams that play with a transition style with great success.

Watching the Melbourne vs Carlton game, Melbourne had plenty of scoring shots generated from the ball hitting the ground inside 50 after not being sufficiently cleared by the Carlton defenders. I think if the game played out similarly, it would suit the Brisbane forward line greatly.
You're missing the point - it's not a transition game that won out, it was pressure (& luck).

58 vs 57 - from two teams who transition the ball, not stoppage teams.

Finals aren't high scoring unless you're playing a withering team like Power.

Tomorrow will be highly contested, high pressure & high turnover, it will be close.

Question is - do the Brians have the ticker?

There is a way - its The Carlton way:)

We are Destiny's Child!

Carlton don’t have a forward line outside of curnow. I’d much rather play them in GF but it won’t happen.

Lions by 40pts
Don’t know about that. McKay was getting better in the second half of the year, and still better than most key forwards. Martin and Motop are good smalls. But our midfield and forward line and Gabba fortress should be too much for them.

Carlton fans oddly super confident based on 2 scrape through wins against opponents who couldnt hit the side of a barn...

Im mildy confident but I know finals do weird things, this could be a lot closer than people expect.
Which fans?

Biggest preliminary final in modern AFL history. No offense to the Lions but if they win it becomes just another grand final. If we win, it becomes the biggest football story in decades. Collingwood v Carlton is a once in a generation fairytale story. Collingwood v Brisbane is just another grand final.

I agree on how huge a Carlton vs Collingwood GF would be, but I dont know about it being 'just another GF' if its Brisbane vs Collingwood. Theres some history there.
Maybe it just applies to Brisbane and Collingwood fans.

Collingwoods forward line managed 2 goals in the first half last night . Your best forward wont even be there next week. Hardly earth shattering stuff for any opposition next Saturday.

Whoever Collingwood play next week , just remember that the pies have Lipinski playing for them and you can always turn on your whipping boy when things start to go downhill in the GF.
Next weeks winner comes out of this game. What I saw last night, your bottom 6 player are shizen and won't get you a flag.

Whether it’s the Carlton or Brisbane forward line that the Pies front up against next week it will be the forward line that kick a winning score against the Pies.
McStay out, you physically target Hill, Elliott and the Pies won’t kick a score that’s going to win a GF.
The rest of the footy world will be lapping it up 😀

****. Might as well forfeit then

We've made serious strides this year. That blue flag is coming sooner rather than later! If the Lions are to beat us, then we'll make them work for it.

Considering how bleak the situation was after losing to Essendon last June, we're now in a position where we're just one more win away from making the grand final. It's been some turnaround!

I really do think that whoever wins this game is winning the flag. Collingwood are a good team, but i still see them as very beatable imo.

Hopefully if Carlton win it hypes the Vics up so much that they break away into their own separate Victorian comp

Blues fans should be excited!!!!
What a long ride it’s been for them.

They just have to win the inside ball tonight, and they have the talent to do it. I do wonder if leaving Kennedy out was a mistake. They are backing in their contested mids and relying on the run of Hollands instead.
More pace on the outside seems the go for them.

Owies out is also a risk, but they are relying on a big game from Jack Martin. He needs to step up and be the link man off half forward and hit the scoreboard. He’s taken a goalkickers place so he just has to deliver. I’d expect Owies to be the sub and impact.

And I can’t believe I’m saying this but Harry just has to step up. TDK was great last week so Harry can’t be blocking his space. And if he does he needs to make it count and kick the goals when given the opportunity.

Kemp is unlucky but they must think they have the potent lions forwardline covered.

They are a great matchup for the lions.
Cripps, Doc and Saad must stand up as leaders early and set the tone to keep them in it, then they can grind away.

Regardless of the result, what a stellar season for the blues.

With all that said and done, I think the lions will be too strong on their home deck. Neale, McLugg and Dunkley will win the inside and provide too much ball to the lions forwardline. Charlie, Raynor and Joe will have a day.

Hoping for a Blues win, but the head says lions.
