Sam Docherty – 150 Games

Carlton defender Sam Docherty will play his 150th AFL game tonight against Brisbane. A modern comeback story for the ages, Docherty’s return to football was one of the highlights of 2022 for football fans everywhere. Docherty showcased his prolific ball-winning ability, averaging 27 disposals, and recorded at least 25 touches in all but three games last year. Docherty’s natural versatility has emphasised his role as a vital member of the Blue’s line-up, not only dominating in the backline but also moving into the midfield when required. In February, Docherty signed a two-year extension with the Club.

Adam Saad – 50 Games

Carlton defender Adam Saad will play his 50th Carlton game tonight against Brisbane. Saad joined Carlton at the end of 2020 after a trade with Essendon. Emerging as one of the competition’s premier small defenders, Saad brings an immediate injection of speed, elite ball-use and proven defensive talent. Off field, Saad has established the Adam Saad Pathways, a program that invites youth from culturally diverse backgrounds to participate in various football and personal development programs. Last year he was named in the All-Australian squad and finished 6th in in the John Nicholls Medal.

Yes, and the orcs ended up losing.

That is a Uruk-hai, which is Brisbane. In this scenario Carlton are the goblins.

While Brisbane have struggled away from home relative to at the GABBA, since 2019 (when Brisbane haven't been garbage) their record is 6-2 at Marvel. It's the MCG and GMHBA where the struggles in Victoria have predominately been.

Zorko, and to a lesser extent Rich, are going to be big outs. Zorko has quietly put together a very good year at half forward.

Midfield battle will be interesting - Neale, Dunkley, Ashcroft, Berry, McCluggage vs Cripps, Hewett, Walsh, Cerra, Docherty. Not dissimilar midfields in their composition and relative strengths. I suspect this is a game we play Berry as an inside mid and sit him on Cripps, like we do against Melbourne and Oliver.

Blues fans cocky. Never thought I'd see it 😎😎.

Both teams have good reason to be up and about. Although if this was 1 week earlier would blues fans be so confident?

Curious as the why this isn't at the MCG. Also didn't realise we are 6 and 2 over the last 8 games at marvel.

Big game for Blues this week.

Docherty and Saad make a big difference and Cincotta & Kemp have been impressive. Pittonet really starting to have an influence

Cowan Fogarty Motlop Boyd Cottrell Owies all available and Binns Dow & O'Brien played well in the 2's. Selection will be interesting after a 100 point win and we have as many players available for selection as we have had in 12 months

Carroll Cuningham S.Durdin likely back as well. Only unavailable are Philp Marchbank & Williams

Competition for spots makes us better

My take is if we can atleast match them in the midfield our defence is to good to allow them a winning score.

Blues by 32 points

Interesting didn't realize we had such a good record at Marvel. We should account for the Blues mid field even without Zorko. Berry or Dunkley on Cripps.
