Crows listed player review:

Hately - much better than last week. Did far more inside work, tidied up his disposal, got into great positions. If he continues on that path he'll play AFL

O'Connor - better than last week, but not ready for AFL. 5 kicks 15 handballs is pretty indicative of his contribution.

Worrell - the best of our defenders again. Is AFL ready without a doubt

Jones - much better than last week. Had a slow first half but built into the game. Still needs a block of SANFL to build confidence but he was okay.

Borlase and Murray - both quite solid without starring

Pedlar - had an excellent 2nd quarter with some serious excitement, and 3 goals is a great result. Faded in the second half. Will play AFL soon

Davis - okay, but sprayed a few. Don't think he's a long term player for us

Thilthorpe - quiet, and was most productive around the ground where he took some very nice marks and contested marks. Needs to show more inside 50, but our delivery might make that difficult

Himmelberg - better than last week, but not amazing by any stretch. Felt Thilthorpe did more around the ground

McAsey - building nicely and playing well for a KPD in the SANFL. Needs more time but his positioning is very good

Newchurch - popped up for some nice moments but was in and out of the game a lot

Strachan - not worth watching him much as he won't play AFL

I noticed a few things I didn't like.
(1) Hately, IMO was worse than first match: his under-pressure decision making and disposal by hand was awful. He gifted the oppo a couple of goals from these, e.g., the ludicrous handball over-the-head in the centre square.
(2) McAsey looked a little better, but he has no go in him. There was one example where there was a loose ball after one of his efforts, and he just stood back and looked on, rather than desperately throwing himself into the fray again.
(3) Newchurch doesn't make anywhere near enough out of his undoubted talents, as I believe has been pointed out many time before: he won't be in the AFL this year. He just corrals and sits back and spectates instead of charging the ball carrier to exert pressure: this will get him nowhere. The jets need to be turned on in a lot more circumstances.
(4) Murray was fine, apart from a hilarious clanger. He made a great show before a kickout, indicating that he was going long. Accordingly, the tall timber went back towards the centre, then he butchered the kick to a WA player at half distance!

Hately was in no way worse whatsoever.

Good to hear Jones lifted.

I know I am harsh on him in my judgement. But sincerely hope I am proven wrong.

Oh and he is in a Crows jumper when it happens.

He wasnt bad.. but pedlar and hately were better.. so chayce is up against it if he’s to get a call up to the AFL.. he’s currently behind those two!.

Pedlar just looks the goods.. but needs to build match fitness.. couple more weeks in the sanfl should sort that.

It's a long season, and injuries will happen is a good thing to remember here.

Mind you, Chayce could quickly find himself on the top of that pack if he sorts shit out, seeing Pedlar as you say needs time to build up match fitness, and Hately doesn't do a whole lot of damage as much as he's good in the clinches.

rubbish.. same crap many of those who didnt want us to pick him last year spun. the lad is a forward that can pinch hit in the ruck..

Kid just needs to find his form and build some consistency.. he’s just a bit off it at present.
He is a fwd but will always play it more in the style of a ruckman that is what I'm trying to say. He is not a pure forward and will never be a dominant key figure in the fwd line.A Matt Kruezer type

From the 30 minutes I watched Pedlar stood out as too good for that standard. Couple of nice things from O'Connor and Worrell as well.

My concern is Thilthorpe. I thought he had a lot more pace than what I saw.

Borlase has quite a long way to go with his development but seems to have the tools.
Didn't notice Jones other than that mark at the end.

Didn't really like the style of play that I saw from us. Whoever is coaching us is not getting the most out of our side. West seemed average and we should have won by more. Likely gamestyle is difficult with so many top ups.

Main positive is that Pedlar will be in our AFL side within a couple of weeks. Worrell needs opportunity at AFL level as well. No point playing him with spuds in the SANFL.
If we wanted a Key fwd Thilthorpe was not the right pick. If we wanted an effective tall target to play up fwd that can chop out in ruck then that's what Riley will bring. No he is not quick. He is no Ben King or Tom Lynch and never will be.

So are you saying we've wasted our highest ever pick on a player most get a rookies?

And he sure as hell isn't Brodie Martin ...

I popped down there tonight.
Like last week, the wind was pretty tricky for most of the night.
It was great to see Pedlar out there, he did some classy things, got a bit of pace, a nice sidestep, courageous and can kick a goal.
Newchurch got reported early for a late high bump but it looked soft and would be surprised if he got any games for it. He looked dangerous on occasions and got a couple of nice goals.
Thought Borlase was excellent down back.
I thought it was a pretty entertaining match, being close on the scoreboard always helps.
I thought the team looked a lot more cohesive than last week.
Jones in the centre square today instead of the wing like last week, so it was good to see him in there but as others have mentioned, being behind his opponent at the bounces gives him no chance of getting the ball first.
A goal in the last few minutes for the win was a good reward for the team, hopefully they can keep building
McAsey reads the ball well but was a bit soft in the marking contest and had no 2nd efforts
Worrell looks ready for AFL, but just a couple of blind bombs today which didn't look good.
The gameplan has a lot more passes to a leading target which looks a lot better than the bomb it on everyones head

Strachan with 41 hit outs. Thats a positive and the skipper turning back the clock with 28 Touches
I'd bloody well hope so because West's beanpole ruck Angus Rana is about as far away from am AFL ruckman as you can possibly get.
