Not really the umps fault that the rule is ratsh*t.

When did this 'genuine attempt' sh*t originate? I noticed it started to get popular in 2012, then it was amplified by 100 last year. It really is a blight on the game, and then they try to introduce more ratsh*t new rules to counteract it

Can kind of see what they're trying to do, stop players just smothering the ball, or locking it in to themselves, to stop momentum etc. Frustrating when you have the numbers and the opposition player just holds it in the tackle to slow down the play and cause a ball-up.

But now the umpires just see every tackle like that. Too cynical about the player with the ball.

They've overcomplicated the rule way too much. Should be as simple as Prior opportunity? Holding the ball. No prior? Ball up.

Of course there will be people that take advantage of the rule just like every other rule, but it's so much better than the ridiculous pileups we get now from waiting for the tackled player to put on some bizarre mime act then blowing the whistle.

I for one enjoyed Eddie Betts' little rib-punching episode in the first quarter

North:

Beat Sydney
Beat Port
Beat Eagles and Dockers at Subiaco
Getting smashed by Adelaide

Greatest trolling team ever.

Don't forget they trolled the **** out of Richmond last week...

Anyway Crows are a much better side with better leaders so I'd be surprised if North did a last week. Wtf is up with them though, good side but would be 80 points down if they ran into a red-hot team in the finals and pulled that out. Thompson is a brilliant rebounder but he's just not strong enough for the Clokes, Hawkins and Walkers of the comp.

Time to sub Pee Tree into the game.

Sydney and Dockers were in terrible form.
Eagles are terrible against anyone not in the bottom 4
Port was there only impressive win but they always beat them
