Absolute hack. Should've traded him last year. Should've traded him 4 years ago.
They tried to trade him but everyone backed out. Can not say we should have. Someone has to want him.

Pretty sure him and Laverde put out feelers when they weren’t offered extensions with Essendon and got no interest. That was probably the first obvious sign things had changed around here as I doubt dododo would have done anything like that to the unquestionably high quality players he bought into the club

then again, not too many people wanted to trade Shiel at the end of 2020 or 2021 anyway. but to me, it was an extraordinary simple decision to make. but I guess cashing out on Shiel after 2 or 3 seasons would have been bad for our pride, or something
Would’ve been a big hit to Dodoro’s ego having given up two first rounder for him.

Got him at a time there was perceived pressure to “land a big fish”

His hands are about as good as a fish’s

Clang clang

Just never a one touch player. Unlike some I don’t knock his endeavour or hardness, he just lacks class

Pies have Pendlebury as an elder statesman. Cats have Danger & Cameron etc. Swans have had their batch. Brisbane Zorko. All champions.

EFC have Shiel

How do you think I feel, when I never liked him. Not my kind of footballer at all. It was also obvious at the time when Watson, Goddard, Hosking's and Myers retired that we needed bigger guys and we wasted 2 decent picks on a fair weather stroller. Absolute joke
of a club.

How did we get rid of Stewart?
Stewart was a broken down hack who couldn’t get on the field. We can at least move Shiel back to the midfield and get something productive and then he is done at the end of the year.

Don't see any benefit to our long term future, but sure we can do that. (Doing that)

Just like having Goldstein is a massive waste of a list spot.

Not sure I would say Goldy or massive waste. Yes we do not really need him as a player as such but he is handy to have around the young blokes in the VFL and as an end run around the soft cap

Drop him. Honestly between his body language, wanting out of the club for a while and his output… all good enough reasons. There’s a FIGJAM vibe with him aswell. Whilst we have been a basket case since he joined, he made the decision to come and to stay here and he’s not lived up to the billing

Didn't Shiel start to play well in the midfield near the end of the season last year? Why are we trialing him down back?

Because he’s not preferred over Merrett Caldwell Durham Tsatsas and Hobbs (and likely Parish)

Half back there is opportunity there and Sheil was an elite player at his peak. Looked decent there in preseason and against Essendon

When Parish comes back I'd like to see Merrett being trialed playing half back utilising his elite kicking and Shiel back in the midfield
