Haven't been able to watch the replay yet but at the game there was an incident about 50 metres off the ball between Chol and Blakey. Did that get shown or mentioned on the TV coverage at all?

Blakey was on the ground and it looked like Chol was hitting him. Most likely an open palm to the chest but wasn't a great look from where I was.

I thought Hawks had the right intensity, just no game plan.

If you could tell me what the Hawks were trying to do I'd be all ears but it looked like they had little structure going forward and no plan for defence
I feel like the Hawks are playing a type of game they just don't have the experience or cattle to do yet.

Think they should have been more defensive but I haven't watched the Hawks other then yesterday so

Sicily is interesting - is the injured? Expected a better game from his yesterday but wasn't as impactful as I thought he'd be.

Was that the one when the Hawk player was lining up for goal from 50 out? They showed a replay, didn't look like much

We actually learnt our lesson from the Tigers game and didn't bomb the thing in over and over again. Sicily is a jet but does rely on those intercepts, we just didn't give that to him

Loved Warner resting in our forward 50, there's just something about him in the forward line that gets me excited. I think he worries opposition defenders because he's strong, has a burst of speed with evasiveness & a great goal sense. I hope we persist with his move to the forward line as it adds another goal scoring avenue for our team.

Good to see Mclean clunk a few marks, I hope he can build on this form because we'll need it when our defence will be under pump with high hack kicks forward.

It was pleasing to see Amartey in the ruck. Imo if his body held up, we'd see him rucking more than Mclean. He's got a great leap & underrated ability to win the contested ball when he's rucking. A bit like Sam Reid.

Agree on this point, think that was lost last year, in a weird way having a longer off season has been so important to Warner, this is the warner we say 2 years ago.

Our defence was great , Matt Roberts took another 9 marks , what a great bit of recruiting , Blakey 12 , Mccartin ,Cunningham also 9 and Melican and Fox 6 and then there was Lloyd with 12 . Yes we had to share it around because of the negative crap dished up by Mitchell

Yeah, saw that too.

The Swans were apparently needling Chol, presumably because he has a reputation for doing silly things when frustrated.

It worked.

Looking at the current side and trying an exercise in thinking well Parker is back this week I am guessing ( I wouldn’t be rushing to change necessarily), at some stage soon Rampe and eventually Mills returns, no doubt injuries and form hit but sort of looking at who can make way and doing a bit of an exercise

Anyone who plays poorly for an extended patch shouldn’t be above being dropped lets be real, eg if Ladhams shines constantly and Grundy falls away, then the change should in theory happen.

Having said that , right now barring a miraculous turn of events due to what they do and in some cases the role they play I see these players as completely safe in the team

Warner

Mclean

Grundy

Heeney

Mcdonald

Rowbottom

Papley

Florent

Gulden

Blakey

McCartin

Melican

These guys are basically locked in but either haven’t played much for us or say a bad 3-4 weeks and maybe they get the chop for someone like a Mills or Parker if the timing was right

Adams- been solid but for us is yet to have an outstanding game

Hayward

Mcinnerney

Roberts - again been great but if he stunk it up for weeks and Mills was ready

Lloyd- maybe harsh

These guys I was trying to work out the bottom 6 by default feels harsh on Harry especially but again maybe most changeable so most likely if you say Parker has to play- I know some would put Hayward here and some arguably make no sense for Parker- eg Amartey out would change the whole structure of the side.

Cunningham

Wicks

Jordon

Amartey

Fox

Campbell- by default as sub saying he is our last picked

Not saying someone like Fox is no good , more working backwards who is most expendable , could possibly be upgraded.
I agree that finding our bottom six is pretty difficult at the moment, and I think it will actually fluctuate depending on who we play, where we play and the weather!

So having said that:

Cunningham: Can't imagine leaving him out, he does a very good job week after week, but possibly for Mills, who can play the same role together with multiple others at higher level.

Wicks: Can't think of anyone else who provides the pressure level that he does, however it would not surprise me if Parker came in for him. Parker lacks Wick's pace, but excels with pressure, clearance, tackles and hardball gets and is probably our best set shot and has far more experience and leadership qualities. Harsh for Wicks, but I don't imagine he'll be out of the team for long.

Jordon: Feel like every game he plays, he is more impactful than the one before. We need his experience and I wouldn't drop him.

Amartey: I think he and McDonald are coming on in leaps and bounds this year... really understanding their roles and being able to implement them to the teams advantage. I wouldn't drop him any time soon...

Fox: Flexible Mr Fox! While I don't think he's a gun, I do think his flexibility to play wing, forward and back is IMMENSE to our team. Wherever he is playing, he understands his role and performs it well. I wouldn't drop him any time soon...

Campbell- by default as sub saying he is our last picked - Agreed

I'd drop Lloyd to the lower tier. JMac would be top tier in the form he's in. He was getting games while he was out of form so I'd put him in the top tier, but I get why you have him there.

For me. Wicks is middle tier, verging on top, but I also see why you'd have him there.

I'm impressed with our bottom 6, we've got good depth atm.
Problem is the experience... we need him for his experience under pressure and versatility when someone goes down in the game.

It was good to see us change up our game style. We slowed down the play & switched the ball a bit when the Hawks defence was set rather than just pushing for the corridor or bombing it long.

Yep the short kicks inside 50 were a delight i thought it was a pretty competitive 1st quarter from both teams.

They should of only been a goal down but Chol lost the plot and gave a free away.

There was plenty written about Rohan and Dimma. Plenty.

Wicks was stood down - or 'stepped away' - from all levels of footy over whatever happened and there have now been a couple of articles written about a fairly odd moment from the game that literally happened yesterday.

It'll all blow over in a month but the pious attitude by some here that we're above all this and it mustn't be spoken about is strange.
