That was also 6 months ago in a side that was not playing anywhere near as well as it is now

This is a kid that has had 20 touches in an AFL game once, I just don’t see why we’d be desperate to rush him back for a final
Because he's an immediate upgrade on Durham or Clarke.

I wouldn’t play him personally. Finals intensity is another level up from a normal AFL game, and he hasn’t played at AFL level since round 2.

I’m not as confident that he should be coming straight in like I am with Langford and Tippa. I simply haven’t seen him in so long that I have more faith in the incumbents to perform and step up when required.

That said I’ll back the coaches and be happy if I’m wrong.

Exactly he did it in a poor team, you cant use only having 20 touches in one game as a negative he was used in the complete wrong way at gws and he was our second best player against port Adelaide before going down with injury. If you can win the footy in a bad team you can win it in a good one

I had a dream last night where he played, and played very well.
His delivery inside 50 was excellent. I should know as I was playing full forward.
Cale is that you?

Or should I refer to you as Peter?

Everyone is acting like in a final you must chuck away the idea of picking your best team and just stick with the guys from last week.

He can be selected without the selectors being “desperate” or “rushing him back”

They sit down, they pick the team they think can win. If he’s fit and has been tested at a lower level then he’s not being rushed in. He’s simply available for selection.

There was a time about 5 weeks ago where we selected Dylan Clarke off a long term injury and exactly the same prep. No one worried he was being rushed. Caldwell is twice the talent Clarke is (and I like Clarke).

Injury prone player gets picked for a big final despite only playing 2 scratch matches

Can either go great or terribly bad

He's played two games this year and was 3rd best in a big loss to Port in Round 2 with less game-time than the rest that saw the game out. He deserves his spot back once proving he's fit - which is what the scratch matches were for. If he plays his role, we will be fine. You otherwise, don't think so (or maybe you do?, who knows anymore).

Totally different player to Durham
durhams running will be essential against macrae or hunter who are often on the wing
clarke seems the obvious candidate as guelfi is In really good form

Or you could just hedge your bets and put him as the medical sub. Fairly handy person to come on when people appear to have doubts on his fitness and running out a game.

Apparently, on sen earlier it was mentioned Caldwell "will" come in for Durham. Also Clarke will apparently have a run with role in the EF. Sam Edmund I think is the source, so who really knows 🤷‍♂️

I suspect hindsight heroism will be rampant either way.

Going with a run with role for the first time all year would be an interesting tactic.
Then again media see Clarke and assume he goes to Bont but it's more likely he just gets given a mandate to sit on Daniel or Dale.
