Fantastic game by Jacob Blight ... would have loved to see him kick one through the centre ... rather than everything down the line but smart move by him not to bite off more than he can chew in his first game at the Club

North Melbourne definitely made the wrong pick ... Payne unlikely to be able to reproduce what he is doing as an overage midfield player in the AFL for 4-5 years ... basically drafted a HBF with a pick 1

Reminds me of Kyle Hartigan. Not necessarily a good thing but if you got 135 AFL games out of a mid season draft pick it would be hard to overly critical.

Hoping that now that he is our system and training full time he improve on taking one grab marks and being cleaner in general. Will likely be the difference between making it or not.

agree, not sure he has the athleticism to be a truly good player at afl level. He knows his strenghts and plays to them

I think you are getting that the wrong way round. Young had no junior development, Blight has been in the system since a teenager. Just because it's not AFL doesn't mean it's not a good system.
No I mean Blight I think is a better option and hasn't even had Amy development left in an AFL environment

Just had a look at his stats on the AFL site. 20 disposals, 9 marks, 11 intercepts looks pretty good on paper. Was he as good as the stats suggest from watching the game?

Had a fair bit of interest in him before the MSD so I thought I'd ask.

From all reports he was very solid. He's obviously well developed, the question being whether he's athletic enough to be a key defender at AFL level. Promising start tho.

Interestingly top of the ladder Peel Thunder got thumped by Claremont today without Blight at CHB for them.

I notice Jack Hutchinson kicked 5 against Perth at Northam today. You'd be pretty pleased with that pick up. Hybrid mobile 3rd tall might slot in ok at the Eagles.

Worked into the game really well and once he settled was excellent. Makes good decisions when it comes to marking or spoiling and used the ball well coming out of the back half.
