So? it's still the majority and a MASSIVE swing on last year when the democrats won it by 6m votes.

All I'm saying is calling the majority of people dumb because they dont agree with you is silly.
I don't deny it was a big swing. Just pointing out the popular margin is not at all the "far majority" that you christened it.

That's a key issue as well.
Left progressive types do struggle to dumb down complex issues.
It's not a new thing, and it hasn't always been a GOP thing. PT Barnum used to talk about it 100 years ago:

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

Adlai Stevenson knew it 70 years ago:

Educating people is far more important than criticising them.

Getting them to think about policy and how it affects them is more important than personality politics the dum-down brigade want them to engage in.

Progressives need to learn how to communicate complex ideas to stupid people or they will keep failing. The ideas are getting more complex in an international and information-based economy than they have been in the past. I think that's the biggest underlying factor in why the public is shifting conservative in the US, UK and Australia.

If you want their vote, don't call them dumb. But you have to acknowledge the fact and dumb down your message so they can understand what you're saying to them.

ok that's fair, i suppose i was more reflecting the swing from 2016.

And then you have to jettison your attachment to not being hypocritical. Trump calls himself pro-police and his supporters said he wouldn't blanket pardon Jan 6th people who attacked police. Then he just pardoned them.

The left will say they're hypocritical or dishonest, and the voters don't really care.

Your premise still is that everyone who didn't vote the way you would have liked = they are dumber than you.

it's a silly position to have.

The democrats didn't lose this election because republican voters are dumb in nature. They lost it because they didn't run on firm policy to which the US citizens wanted, which is a strong border and strong economy. Plenty of Democrat states SWUNG to republican

Were they not dumb when they were blue? or just now because they are red?

do better man.

People vote on emotion, not facts. Facts are good at butressing or supporting an emotion, but they don't create them.

Generally conservatives have it easier here because negative emotions are pretty simple to gin up - basically fear THEY will come and take what's YOURS.

But by and large voters are decent smart people who want to live in a better place for them and their families and kids etc.

Its why Obama's YES WE CAN and change message was so powerful - it created a really positive emotion when folks needed it, and there were facts (he was against Iraq before it was popular) to buttress the emotion.

Everyone with even the most passing interest in politics, especially US politics, should read this if they haven't already.

Masterful.

She will never ever be able to win an election. Its not possible.

AOC can certainly win IMO, but she needs to drop her pettiness and focus on delivering what America citizens wants.

I think it's the simplicity of the message.

GOP: You're poor because we let in too many migrants who take your jobs and suppress wages and use your taxes.

Dems: paragraphs of waffle, not wanting to point the blame at any one group or upset anybody, and talk about subtle changes across a range of metrics, redistributive taxes, long term educational outcomes, diversity........

GOP: Close the Border

Dems: We need to talk about the structural elements which......................................................................................................................... ........................................................................................................ ...............................................................................................and hope.

Americans: we're poor and want someone to do something about it
Progressive: how about taxing the rich properly again?
Americans: DAMN COMMIES GO TO HELL

You're joking right?

Or is this an admission that the US voting public really is sexist?

I think there are plenty of strong female candidates AOC being one of them. But I also think that the 2 we have seen run (Clinton & Harris) were both poor candidates.

Clinton won the popular vote by 3m or so votes. That doesn't scream sexism to me.

I think if AOC ran, she can win in 2028, but she needs to change a lot of things.

Clinton won the popular vote considerably.

That doesn't address what I said.

If Trump can get elected twice, why would AOC need to be less petty to win office?

Though I disagree with the characterisation of her being significantly petty in the first place.

It really is incredible the way he is able to get away with spewing absolute lies.

His speech repeated his lie that 35,000 Americans died in the construction of the Panama Canal, therefore they deserve to have it back.

Estimates are 300 yanks carked it, tens of thousand of Jamaicans, Barbadians and Colombians gave their lives for that ditch.

I'm not certain i am following you than.

AOC screaming "i dont celebrate rapists" is indeed petty.

He was elected. Deal with it. Get on with it and come up with a solution to sway voters back to the democrats. Acting like a sook and being petty isn't going to win them anything. She can do it in 2028 IMO, but she needs to drop this kind of crap and focus on what her fellow citizens want. Stong borders and Strong economy.

You can't out fwit Trump, try but you will fail.

Focus on delivering the policy that Americans want. it sounds simple, and it is simple.

thing is though, he doesn’t give a stuff about them or anyone else for that matter. he’s made a mint from the scam that’s all that matters to a man with no redeeming features.

True but it was largely French and Jamaicans i thought at least on the first go.

Then when the US built took over years later it was largely Barbadians.

Either way it was no way near 35,000 US lives.
