So who covers for Shiel in the middle?
Cutler plays in the HB rotation I suspect the middle has to be covered by Parish , McGrath, Merrett and Caldwell with Jake doing some center bounce work be maybe half the workload he was doing lasy year.

Take the fine - hell I'd chip in to help pay it. Can't seriously be in the top 26 players in the team if we are a serious club. Looking forward to the match threads highlighting every time he panics or doesn't tackle.

Yep. Ham hears the footsteps of shadows.
He's not alone though is he. I recall Langford in the preseason games dropping an easy mark (v Saints) and taking his eyes off a contested ball (v Saints again i think) because he heard footsteps. You clearly see in both cases he looks for contact and loses possession.

A much bigger bodied and experienced player, yet no mention of it. I'm no fan of Ham the player, but we have others who do the same. Just one of many reasons why we are not contenders.

My perception of Ham's fear of contact is probably compounded by his problems with disposal and hitting the scoreboard though, both of which Langford has no issue with. I'd say Langford is also a better decision maker. Basically, Langford > Ham, and therefore has a place in the 22 before Ham does.

Run and carry. Practically every game he’s starred at VFL level has been off half back.
He has starred in the VFL ?
Not strong enough to defend one on one . Gets knocked off contests . You need more than run and carry to play half back.
In the VFL games I have seen wing has been his spot.

Hes not that accountable but certainly generates more than he conceded. It’s where he kicks goals too, handball receives around 50.

I think him almost killing himself running into Wright’s leading lane and then spilling the footy sums him up.

Light, nippy outside type that has very little footy brain, doesn’t know his role and just follows the footy around.

Dees wanted him for a reason and they’ve had huge success with Langdon in a similar role but he doesn’t have the restraint to be a winger at this level, he can’t help but be drawn into the contest and just be a nothing body somewhere around the ball.
