Will not done yet, Kangas midfield now batting super deep yet still working out the best mix. He’s the best defensive pressure mid in there and best creative handball both left and right side. He basically gets no receives so every possession is loose ball hard ball or occasional uncontested mark. Playing four quarters seems the issue, second half last week was frustrating after a solid first half. No problem retaining him, gives great depth, presumably low salary, could still be ideal foil for stars like LDU Sheezel FOS Colby etc. He also hits targets more than most mids, classic role player, quality character
Tommy Powell has him for creative handballing

Straight back in next week, please.

We obviously missed his defensive efforts in the midfield tonight.

Yeah yeah yeah I'm fully aware of his 'limitations' but he's better than and contributes more than6-8 of the players who played tonight, and is beneficial to our midfield structure.

We lost the stoppages by less than 25%, even with X looking like he was playing through some bruised ribs or something.

We lost the game mostly on turnover and given his inability on the defensive spread Phillips wouldn’t have helped us much there I’m afraid.

No thanks.

even as a tagger he's still not great.
Our midfield is stacked and would rather have FOS learning his craft in their than wiphi
This is now being proven to be the biggest fallacy in sport.

If it is “stacked”, then why the f*ck aren’t they winning the midfield battle?

We have to move past picking names or draft picks for our midfield and pick the group of players that will gel best to take the opposition mids to the sword.

Stacked with the same type of players is more accurate. Will does little to improv that. It is actually the issue with high picks, you forget to go after the role players

No phillips, no north.

Nah but seriously, keen to see how he goes in the VFL.
Seems like he had a pretty good one, 24 disposals, 7 clearances, 6 tackles, and a goal.

Not necessarily an instant recall, but after last night the bar could be pretty ****en low to clear.

woeful, Swans were seemingly so gettable, yet we were non competitive, talent not the issue anymore…

Great name btw, genuinely good and need to be congratulated.

Instant recall for us. In.

I want to see them all in... Wardlaw, Duursma, O'Sullivan and Goater. Only then will we know if we are on track or bust.

oh wow, they must have updated the stats or something, i've sold him short 4 tackles and a clerance/possession.

Pushes it a little closer to recall territory

NMFC write up on WillPhil
Will Phillips competed hard in the middle, picking up 24 disposals and seven clearances to strengthen his case for an AFL recall. He was rewarded for his efforts with a goal on the stroke of full-time.
